Whistler Cruisader Radar Dectector

Anybody have any experience with this that can comment. Or can comment on the quality and effectiveness of Whistler dectectors in general?

Note that you can get a wireless headsup helmet display with this unit.

I have no experience with the Whistler radar detector and would be skeptical. I own and use two Valentine 1 detectors and have heard good things about the new Escort (9500?). A wireless heads up display is available for $170 for the transmitter and the receiver. I have heard good things about it and will be looking at a unit in a couple weeks through various internet outlets. The brand is H.A.R.D.

No experience with Whistler, but this is the one I own, and has been very reliable both on-bike and in-car.

If I were to spend money on one, it'd be a V1.

I've never met anyone with a V1 that didn't swear by it. I personally use an Escort 8500 that I've had for about 4 years now and it has paid for itself many times over. I've never had anyone rave about their Whistler.

Re: Whistler Cruisader Radar Dectector

I had one with the in helmet LED alerts. Continual and repeated false alerts. It will definitely get you a ticket if you rely on it. The LED's watch batteries will go out without warning and very often. My advice is buy proven quality and that means: Escort, Valentine 1, or Beltronics the rest are cheap junk. Threw my Whistler Cruisader into the trash and bought an Escort passport and integrated the audible into my headset which has never let me down and almost zero false alerts among many other nice features.
