Re: riding gear
Maybe he's a Judge in his "real life" and thinks it only matters what he wears from the waist up!

Re: riding gear
Not trying to one up, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut,
Yesterday, north bound on Barker Cypress, R1, very short guy, flip flops, shorts and a tank top. To top it all off he had a gal riding pillion who was easily twice his size, flip flops, jeans and a tank top. It was really a weird sight because of the distorted perception. This guy was so short he could barely reach the bars. With the girl being so big and up high on the buddy seat, it looked like she was doing the driving from the rear

Maybe he has a desk job and doesn't need his legs or feet.

Re: riding gear
I saw a dude on central yesterday with pants and a wifebeater.
He had on a full face with a shield, but the shield was up and he had on "goggles" that looked straight off the racquetball court. He was stopped on the left shoulder (I was in the mini van) but slowed up next to him to see if he needed help. He waved me on and started cleaning his goggles. Traffic shortly sped up to about 40MPH and here he comes, lane splitting. Then in about a 1/2 mile he was on the shoulder cleaning again. I tried to ESP to him -- flip down the face shield man! Brain waves were impeded somehow, somewhere! Oh well. |

Re: riding gear
While riding back from New Braunfels I came upon a lad wearing a helmet, shorts, and a short sleeve shirt. I resisted the notion to lable him a squid base upon his riding attire.
I think it was the acts of passing in the no passing zone, lane splitting, and making left turns while the right turn indicator was blinking that allowed me to view him as a squid.

Re: riding gear
I'm pretty sure the bunny was being sarcastic. She gets on my case for moving the bike from one parking spot to another without a helmet...

Re: riding gear
Many riders have strange/false reasons for riding without proper protective gear. It's not isolated to cruisers, but Harleys get the most attention. I've seen guys without helmets or gear on cruisers, sportbikes, dirt bikes, UJMs, etc. I don't remember ever seeing a guy in flip-flops, shorts, and a tank-top riding a BMW, though.

Re: riding gear
Yeah. I was joking.
I (like most of us) have seen all kinds, from the classic squid to the BMW rider in shorts and flip flops. I was mainly poking fun at the whole idea of this thread: "Me too!"

Re: riding gear
Stupid question time here. What's a "wifebeater"? (in this context, please. Let's not get carried away just because I seem to have left myself wide open here).

Re: riding gear
White tank top on a man, often ribbed material, preferably with sweat or beer stains. Any other color doesn't qualify.

Re: riding gear
I think the guy or gal that has the helmet on and then no other gear is smarter than the guy with no helmet and all the rest of the gear. I have been guilty of that. I figure most of the other things can be fixed but if you knock that noggin too hard you are gone.
