Sportbike rally in Iraan

Anyone know when the Sportbike rally in Iraan is scheduled to be held this year? Searched, but can't find it. Went last April and camped for two nights in the city park.

I spoke with Dana today a prospective date has been set but we are waiting for the County Commissioners to approve that date. As soon as they do I will begin posting up flyers pics info maps etc etc. We are hoping for an all time high attendance this year.

Thumbs up Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

Looks interesting. Any sort of ride map or list of the good roads?

The roads are generally long and straight down there -- a few sweepers but nothing technical.

The rally is sorta fun, but generally devolves into a perpetual stuntfest by lunch, which gets old pretty quickly. I usually head down mid-morning, hang around for a few hours, then head back in the early afternoon. I've never stayed overnight, but I understand the after-parties are reliably debaucherous and occasionally epic.

Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

Thanks for the perspective. Google Earth didn't show much paved twisties, so I was suspicious of the terrain. Still, sounds like a fun event.

Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

Wow. Iraan knows about bikes? When did that happen? Last time I was there, they were still learning about fire...

Actually, it HAS been 25 years since I've there. Still no buildings taller than 3 stories?

I won't be able to go, and don't have a sport bike anyways, but seeing the thread really brings back memories.

One or two are actually good.

Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

You don't have to own a sportbike, last were there were plenty of Vtwins, dual sports, gold wings and choppers.

Come on to Iraan, discover their newest feature... indoor plumbing!

It's always a ton of fun and there is always around $3500 worth of gear raffled off, helmets jackets etc etc.

Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

I think the reason they like us on the bikes so much is we each bring two of another great invention... The Wheel!!!

Re: Sportbike rally in Iraan

Fun day. Man, there were some excellent prizes! It was jackets and helmets galore. Very cool. I wish I had gotten there earlier this year.

James, I enjoyed the ride back with you guys. Now that you're back on two wheels, gimme a call and we'll do some evening rides together.

Here's hoping everyone made it back safe and sound. Great work, Dana, Carl, Marie, and everyone who helped put the rally together. Special thanks to all he sponsors.
