Re: FS: 1981 BMW R65 w/Velorex Sidecar

Hi there Pecos, I wanted to ask you something about this modification you made....

I have also a BMW R65 Year 81, just restored the bike. But, tell me, how does it behave this bike with a sidecar? DO you have anyproblems with it? What the max Speed you can drive? Did you do any more modification to the engine or chassis to put this sidecar to work?

Thanks and Best Regards.

elbujo, rig behaves just fine. Handles fine since the velerox is light. This is my second r65 rig. R65s are popular with this type of setup. Max speed? I don't ride fast. Maybe 55 but you could go faster. No modifications. Dauntless is a bolt on application. I have heard of some folks changing out the rear drive to get more torque but its not necessary.

Its still here. After two weeks of sitting, I applied the choke and tapped the starter. Started it ride up and idled fine.

Oh yes, its ready to go.
