Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

OK, so what's up with the supports? Was this a resort type thing that went belly up? What was it going to be and about what time period, ie: recession, hurricane or something.

The "Boot Memorial" in Big Bend is also of interest. Anybody got info on that one posted eariler?

I'd sort of like to know the history "behind the shots" if possible. So if you know, when you pass "the ball", post up!

If you are referring to the MX boots on top of the hill across from Kathy's Kosmic Kowgirl Kafe, that is a memorial to the guy who started the annual Dual Sport ride. Burl Hughes. http://trh-cycle.org/flyers/ds2007.pdf

Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

I am thinking this was a condo that was there about 20 years ago. I remember seeing it and it was an odd shape that made it look aerodynamic which is kind of ironic.

Here's a photo of what remains

Anybody know more about it?

OK... Here's my youngest daughter & riding buddy in front of a little "shack" made famous in a popular movie. Where is it?

I remember when those pilings were placed there along Blue Water Highway about 25 or 30 years ago, toward the north end of Follets Island, south of San Louis Pass. Nothing was ever built on them. For some reason the construction project was abruptly stopped and that's just as far as it ever got. I always thought that was strange. There is a condo a bit south of there- it still stands.

Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

I hope this isn't too hard. Street riders will have a hard time for sure. I'll pull it if it's a problem and find something else. I too am running out of pictures that haven't already been posted.

Where is this?

Looks like Bubba's back yard. No, wait, there's not enough beer cans or cars up on blocks.

Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

Is it on top of the hill at jerry jeff walkers place roughly bounded by Hwy 290 and Hwy 71 across from the pinnacle? It's been years since I've been up there but it looks similar.

Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

Not sure what the longest record is, but it's in the days category......

I'm good with the picture as long as there's a reasonable chance others have seen it too. That's the fun of thread as it floats between the road and off-road riders. And the best treat so far has been LeanIn2It and the photoshop of his soon-to-be-his-bike into a picture when he had the ball....

So let it ride a bit, ask your dirt-buddies to stick their head in and take a guess and see where it goes. As the first page rules go, it's not a 'stump the forum' contest or a Marco-Polo type thing. There has to be a reasonable chance of solving where it is and it'd really be nice to have some significance.

Since you control it at the moment, it's up to you as to when you start posting hints.

Re: Where am I? (Can you place this picture...?)

That photoshop was pretty sweet.

This is a place a lot of dual sport riders could know. A little off the beaten path but it has one of the best hill country views you can find. I'll even give the clue that it's in the Central Texas region. Let me know if it needs to be changed and I'll go hunting. But for now.....
Let it ride!
