Talimena Scenic Drive on Saturday

I am going to leave Dallas about 11:30am ride up to the scenic drive and back. Planning to ride at the speed limit of the highway and not the bike. Anyone want to join?

It takes about 4 hours to get there and the scenic ride on the mountain is about 30 minutes.

Re: Talimena Scenic Drive on Saturday

by my reckoning its about 220 miles to this side of the parkway, 250 to Mena. Going through the small towns, I think you're closer to 4 hours up there if you're riding posted speed limits, more like 4 1/2. It's a great ride. Good luck.

Re: Talimena Scenic Drive on Saturday

Give us a trip summary when you get back. I've been wanting to that trip but 9 plus hours might be more than I want in one day. When I do it I'll probably stay at the Queens lodge and do the second leg back the next day. Do you go to Mena when you do this trip? Go back the same way you came or a different route? Which is the best way to see the Talimena Scenic Drive, traveling east or west?

Re: Talimena Scenic Drive on Saturday

I came back late Saturday. I went up 75 and then cut over the on the back roads. I actually went east to west and it was so much fun riding on teh peaks that i went back and then drove back the same way i came in.
I will see if i get some time to draw up the map on google and put it on here when i get a chance.
It was a lot of fun so i just might do it again in about 3 weeks.
I will post it here and you can join if you like.
What do you ride anyways?
