Sold - 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
This is a fun and reliable old bike. I've put a couple thousand street miles on it and done 2 trackdays at GSS and half of one at MSR-H on it. It ran a solid novice pace with no problems at either track. I'd like to keep it, but want to try some TMGP racing. Might trade for a really nice Formula 7 setup, or for a not so nice one + cash.
The bike is about 70 lbs. lighter than a stock 400, but still completely street legal. Here are some highlights: -Engine is stock internally, gone through and re-gasketed, re-sealed about 2 years ago at Metric Motorcycles. -Valves checked, carbs synched, oil changed regularly -Dyna S electronic ignition -clip ons, Manx Norton seat -electronic tach, oil pressure gauge, digital speedo -TTR400 billet fork pre-load adjusters -TTR400 box section swingarm - this is a snazzy $700 TIG welded piece imported from S. Africa -Koni "Special D" alloy shocks w/ adjustable damping -Shouldered aluminum rims +1 size -Kerker header w/ Supertrapp baffle (also have the Kerker megaphone) -7 position adjustable steering damper -Stainless brake line, modern master cylinder, drilled and surface ground rotor I've got an extra tank that is sealed with POR-15 and stripped, waiting for paint. Just never bothered to do the cosmetic stuff. Crapload of other spares including an entire engine. Located in Houston. ![]() ![]()

Re: 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
That was my first bike, and I loved it! Of course, I couldn't ride a stock one anymore, and this one would bend me into a permanent pretzel.
But I can dream, can't I?

Re: 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
If you're over 6' tall this would be a pretty tight squeeze, and if you can spend more than an hour on that seat there should be some kind of prize. It is a great bike for short blasts though.
I do have another stock triple tree and drag bars if the clip ons are too extreme. The ergos are really close to a modern GSXR 600 for comparison.

I forgot to mention I do have a clean title and the bike is currently registered, inspected, and 100% legal for the street.

Re: 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
Whoa.....
writing to you from California, that thing is SICK! I put almost 30,000 miles on one dem puppies back in the day, I LOVED that bike! And here I am 35 years later, dreaming of being taught how to ride (correctly) via some track days and CLASS. I ride an average of 25,000 miles a year, but that doesn't make a rider a GOOD rider. And there it is, a perfect track bike for my 5' 2"ness (!!!). Too bad I'm trying to catch up on all these bills that owning & riding bikes has created of late; I'm making progress, but driving out to Texas with my old Kendon and buying the perfect toy would seriously set me back...... My God that thing is sweeeet! |

I've sold some of the parts and replaced with others. The swingarm and shocks are replaced and the steering damper is gone.
$2300 like this.

Would you be interested in a clean Yamaha WR250 as a possible trade?

Re: 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
That's tempting, but I'm really looking for an F7 race package. Preferably some kind of XR or KLX motard.
Something that fits in this class: Quote:

The tranny locked up due to me installing an off brand oil seal kit. That was all gone through and the engine redone about 2000 miles ago. Yes I do have both sidecovers. Just removed them for a trackday. |

Re: 1975 Honda CB400F - $2500
Ready to get it sold.
$2000 with spare engine, carbs, gas tank and misc. pieces. I'm firm on this price - there's over $1000 in the wheels alone. More pics. Gauge cluster...oil pressure gauge replaces light for more info. ![]() At GSS...perfect track for it. ![]() More recent pic (steering damper is removed now)
