My Resale Took A Hit Today...

I wasn't sure where to put this... General, Suzuki Bandits, or wherever - then it made sense - this is a story so please read along.

I remember the day I picked up my Bandit - cold, gray and misty... somehow it's fitting that today was the same - cold, gray and misty. It only took 4 years, 7 months and 6 days but I finally got there...

A few numbers to consider...

50 oil changes with 25 filters
Only on my second replacement chain
Only on my second replacement front brake pads
OEM rear brake pads still in place
OEM plastics still in place
OEM clutch still in place
OEM engine/pistons/motor still in place

Suzuki really got this one right. I don't abuse my bikes but I like to have fun with them. My Bandit has been to the drag strips, carved corners, commuted, toured, and stunted if you consider the occasional roll-on wheelie a stunt. It still keeps on going and has never failed me.

Along the way I've made a lot of friends, learned a lot about riding, learned some stuff about myself, enjoyed a lot of good food, fun and fellowship. I look forward to the next 100K. Thanks for checking the thread out.

This speaks volumes of you and the bike. Congratulations... best wishes on the next 100K miles. Respectfully, I would not fret the resale, you've gotten your monies worth. --Bill

100K awesome!

Congrats on the accomplishment Jay . I think the 100K says alot about the machine AND the rider. It was great following your lead up Push Mtn and Hwy 9 as you were getting those last few miles last weekend.

Awesome! However, I think that passing 20K probably did worse for your resale than anything else with the way things go out there. Well, that and the economy.

If your going to purposely diminish the value of your bike, thats the prefect way to do it.

Congratulations

Yes, long live the clean Bandeet and congrats on a mission accomplished Jay. I was witness to a few hundred and count me in as one of the friends along the way.

That is 60.97 miles per day using your numbers....I don't do that in a week between two bikes. You are a motorcycle riding rockstar !!!
Resisting the temptation for a new girl must have been hard, going to ride it forever or can we frame it and shop for something new ?
Don't hate bro...just asking.

Not sure I even want to know that... Let's just say I didn't save much on gas.

New bikes are always tempting... seems to be a slew of new ones among the ETXer's these day. Eyes are always open but it'll be a tough act to follow.

Re: My Resale Took A Hit Today...

Holy monkey butt, batman! My new (to me) 1979 Suzuki GS1000 only has 8k original miles on the clock! It is great that you were able to pull over as the clock ticked over, did you get a few profile shots for posterity?

I am wishing I would have not bought my Jeep last year and put the money into a new bike. That really would have impressed the wife (not), but would have made my life much happier...

Good luck on the next 1000 centuries or 100 millenia, whichever comes first.

Those of us who've tried (and failed) to keep you in sight are not at all surprised that you're on only your second set of brake pads.
