It is a 2004 DL1000, it is Blue in color and has 26800 miles it has recent new Bridgestone tires, serviced with synthetic oil, the throttle body and secondary butterfly have been synced, the chain and sprockets are in good shape, it has a tank bra and a engine guard, I installed a Dobeck performance "jet kit" to richen it up a little and help is get over the characteristic "stumble", I replaced the windshield with a stock new one and I have an extra that goes with it, it runs good and drives good. The negatives: it has a couple of scrathes and a small dent in the tank behind the bra. Here are a couple of photo's but the engine guard has been added since these were taken.

These bikes are in excellent condition and they are for sale or trade. I would consider trading them separate or together for the right bike. I am interested in a sport adventure or a sport tourer.

I am interested in the KLR. Just want to verify....you are in Sulfur Springs?

Oh yeah....did you do the engine idle lever counterbalance (doohickey)? If so, did you use the regular spring or torsion spring?

How often was oil changed?

Yes, I am located in Sulphur Springs.
No, I have not done the Doohickey. I have adjusted it every oil change. I had planned to do it, but I somehow found myself riding it!

I bought the bike new and I was very careful in how I broke the bike in. I had the dealer do the first service at 400 miles. I changed the oil again at 1500 miles and then every 2200 - 2500 miles thereafter.

I am on vacation this week, staying close to home. Feel free to come out and see it!

I was under the impression that this latest generation of KLR's had the doohickey issue resolved at the factory finally.

They did't. I had to change my 2008 doohickey. I am WAY sorry I got rid of it and want another one, however.

I have a friend that recently sold his 2008 KLR that had 18,000 miles and he had never replaced the doohickey. The only reason he sold his bike was because he had been run over with all his BMW projects and needed more room in his shop. I had planned to replace mine, but spent so much time riding I never got around to it. Not meaning to be too forward here, but this bike will make someone a good one!
