Re: Three quick shots from the Motors Rodeo
#2 has my vote as well.
Crop or full sensor, and what focal length did you use? .

I used my Tokina 11-16mm which is designed for crop sensor cameras and the focal length was 12mm. |

Crop Sensors If you have a crop sensor camera (ex: 1.5) and you put a lens made for a crop sensor on it that displays 100mm, is it 100mm or 150mm? I'd have to guess 100. If you have a crop sensor camera (ex: 1.5) and you put a lens made for a NON-crop sensor on it that displays 100mm, is it 100mm or 150mm? I'd have to guess 150. Full Frames If you have a full-frame sensor camera and you put a lens made for a crop sensor on it that displays 100mm, is it 100mm or 150mm? I have no idea. If you have a full-frame sensor camera and you put a lens made for a full-frame sensor on it that displays 100mm, is it 100mm or 150mm? I'd have to guess 100. I know my D90 is a 1.5 crop sensor and that's about it. .

The way I understand this issue is that if you put a 100mm lense on a crop frame camera (1.5) the field of view you get with that combination is the same as if you had a 150mm lens on a full frame. The crop does not give you a longer reach i.e. a 500mm lense does not magically become a 750mm lense but the field of view is equal to that of a 750mm lense on a full frame camera. Here is a good article that probably explains this better than I can: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/C...op-Factor.aspx |

Re: Three quick shots from the Motors Rodeo
I'll read the article in a bit, but wouldn't the field of view translate to a 1.5 magnification since it's an SLR type camera and what you see is what's hitting the sensor (or in old school the film plane)
Does pose an interesting question.....
