SPECIAL INFO FOR THIS EVENT!

Because this is the Fifth Anniversary of the TWT Pie Runs, we are going to do something a little different. Some of the companies that help to support TWT have agreed to donate door prizes. If you wish to participate in the drawings for the prizes, you will need to make sure to stay at the event for the drawing. We won't be shipping stuff (unless perhaps there is just no way for you to get it home) so you need to be present to win. We will be drawing names from a helmet. Below is a list of the companies that are donating prizes:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current plan is to have the drawing at noon.

PLEASE RSVP!! It is crucial that we get a fairly accurate head count so that the restaurant can plan for adequate staff and most importantly, so they can make sure they have enough PIE!! So please let us know if you will be coming or if you have to cancel - just post in this thread to do that.

A six-hour trip means I will probably have to bow out on this one. I got Bikey's speedometer and odometer working, but I'm not sure I could survive 12 hours of riding in one day and I don't think my wife will want me to spend the night away.

Really sad, as this is the 5th anniversary and all.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Tourmeister has queried the forum advertizers and several have indicated that they will contribute door prizes. I'll be adding their banners to the first post.

Right now we have:

You will have to join us and stick around for the drawings for this.
Thanks to all the sponsors for donating!

Re: Pie Run I: 5 Year Anniversary in Hico, 01/30

Chuck, make me a maybe.
In view of the current global warming episode, and recalling the sharp wind-driven list to port side on the way down last year, I may back out. But for now it's on my calendar.
I haven't consulted Ninjette yet... I'll post her thinking later.
Thanks.

While I've never been, I bet you could make it in under 5 hours, if that helps
I'm considering it, though I'd have to get a kitchen pass for the day , and to be honest 10 hrs may be more than my butt can take [I know I'm a feather weight]

The number one rule for this forum!
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Eph 4:29 (NIV)
Think before you post. Leave out the vulgarity, personal attacks and foul language!

Quote:
The phrase "eminent domain" reflects an assumption Karl Marx would find congenial: government is the default owner of everything, and that private ownership, however extensive, is merely a contingent arrangement. - Will Grigg

When one possessed of the Truth suffers from a heavy heart he is susceptible to a more dangerous affliction — the craving for power to eradicate error, to cause Truth to triumph by force. - Frank Chodorov

The issue is always the same: the government or the market. There is no third solution. - Ludwig von Mises

Where politicians flourish, long history has harshly taught us, people and their liberty wither. Where the state is god and the "public interest" worshipped, individual man will be found bleeding upon the altar. - Karl Hess

I heartily accept the motto, “That government is best which governs least.”… Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe—”That government is best which governs not at all”; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. — Henry David Thoreau, 1849

Human reason must justify what the human will has chosen, even at the cost of falsifying reality. - Stephen Westerholm

But the myth of the rule of law does more than render the people submissive to state authority; it also turns them into the state's accomplices in the exercise of its power. For people who would ordinarily consider it a great evil to deprive individuals of their rights or oppress politically powerless minority groups will respond with patriotic fervor when these same actions are described as upholding the rule of law. - John Hasnas

We'll have to keep this in consideration with no guarantees - too far for the kids, so we might drive up for it just to hang out with the group.
