Re: Honda cx500 DualSport Conversion:

July 2010 Update:

Well its almost mid July and I finally got something going on the seat.
Using the same base (as posted before) I made the new tank mounts moving it back about 2 inches so I can get full swing on turning the handle bars without the forks now hitting the tank!

Here you can see just how far the tank was moved viewing the modified front mounts for the tank.

So now I turned my attention to making the seat mounting brackets and re-covering the 1981 (or 1980 I forget which) RM125 seat to the CX frame.

So here's a few shots of the seat after mounting on bike.

And a shot of the whole bike with seat mounted - I am pleased with the new seat when compared to the behemoth that was previously on there

On another note, I got tired of trying to get the CV carbs to run right so I installed a pair of 34 Mukini's. another 50 bucks worth of jets from Sudco and at least a whole day swapping jets and test rides with plug checks but I got it purring like a kitten!

The test ride was great - 16 quick miles and I'm very pleased. Now to move forward with making the rear rack and a skid plate.
Maybe this weekend -

Great job. I wish I had a shop full of machine shop tools and the skills to use them. Your ability to be creative expands by leaps and bounds when you can.
