Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

When I first bought this bike, it had already had some work done by the previous owner (radiator guard, plastic work, fenders, etc.) but I did many more mods after I got it. The biggest thing that changed the whole bike for me was installing the correct springs and setting the sag. It was literally like riding a different bike after I did that. With the bigger tank and rear cargo rack, I feel like I can travel almost anywhere in a fairly self-sufficient manner. I am now completely in love with my DRZS....though it's hardly an S model any longer with that kick starter installed!

Thanks for posting this. I remember this ad!! Brings back some good memories. The TS185 was also really popular when I was in high school.

My pleasure, there may not be one bolt on the DRZs that would fit the TSs but somehow they are the closest thing to them. SZ.

Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

Heres is a DR650SE(2007) headlight question. I havent done much research on this yet but what are my options in replacing the stock headlight bulb when she finally burns out? I think there may be some brighter or "better" replacement bulbs other than stock but am not sure. any suggestion?

Not really, just shy of changing the entire headlight assembly with something that has a better reflector. It uses a typical 55/60 H4 bulb... you can get brighter bulbs, like a 80/100, but they aren't technically "legal"... which never stopped me

Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

My first street bike was a brand new '78 Yamaha DT100E I bought with paper route money when I was 17 years old. It only had 98cc's and with stock gearing went 56MPH wide open but I eventually changed the front sprocket from a 14 to a 16 and was then able to hit 65MPH! Whoo Hoooo! My friend had a Suzuki TS100 and his bike could do 70MPH stock. We went all over the place on those little bikes. Longest trip I made was with a friend on the back and we left Port Arthur and headed to Bridge City then over to Vidor and on over to Beaumont, then back to Port Arthur. Doing that on a 100 was insane especially with a passenger!

Me and a Bud rode our DT100s from Dal. to Ft.worth and back, we both ran out of 2T oil and got caught in a thunder storm, Here's the link to the old TS 400 add's.http://www.suzukicycles.org/TS-TC-se...rochures.shtml

Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

Ah yes, the 2-stroke oil for the injector. I calculated mine was good for about 400 miles and a tank of gas might have gotten me 60 miles. Remember the OIL light? Mine would come on every time I rode a wheelie.

In the meantime, I will post my leftover farkles I bought for the DR for sale ASAP. If anyone has any interest in a black 4.9 gallon IMS fuel tank, tall Parabellum windshield, skid plate, rear rack, gel seat, and Vapor computer, I have all of these that were on the bike and all worked great. I've just been too busy riding my Versys to post them for sale.
I am interested in the tank. Do you still have it and do you have a price in mind?

Yeah, Suzuki had some pretty tall claims in there adds of the day, they guaranteed the TS185 would outrun any competitors 250 out of the box, ooooK.

Mine was a 72 green, I don't recall an oil light,[it might have had one} just the sight glass on the oil tank.

Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

Dont forget that Suzuki made two versions the "enduro" 100 and 125. The "TC" versions were four speed, dual range, and had a lever to pull changing the low range to a high range. The "TS" had the straight five speed tranny. Before the 100, Suzuki had the 90cc versions. They were popular in their day.

Re: Can we have a DR and DRZ thread?

My silly brother bought a brand new TS100 in I think 1976 but not real sure what year it was. He rode it home on the street without a MC license then proceeded to make a dirt bike out of it. Huh? He eventually put a "kit" in it and raced in the 100cc class on Pleasure Island in Port Arthur. We have old silent 8mm home movies of those races. He came in 3rd place his first time out. Several years later he bought a Honda Elsinore 125 motocrosser with paper route money for around $900 cash from the dealer. They didn't take him seriously and said he needed our father's permission or some BS like that. Heck, it was his money and got the bike home eventually and raced it too. Ah, the good ol' daze.

I remember the TC90 had a lever on the case that you could kick with your heel for the HI-LO range,it was shaped like a boomerang, that sound right?
