Motorcycle ergonomics Site [merged #4]

Pretty cool application lets you see how someone of your size would fit on the bike of choice.

http://cycle-ergo.com/

Great for us shorties to see how much we'd have to extend our toes to touch down.

Re: Motorcycle ergonomics app

Pretty neat. I like how you can overlay multiple bikes for comparisons. Maybe this would be beneficial for jwrick's DR vs XL thread.

Nice app.
They should add the 'waist' variable...

Re: Motorcycle ergonomics app

If you crank down the inseam measurement far enough, it eventually tells you "Too short to reach the handlebars." or "Too short to reach the footpegs."

Re: Motorcycle ergonomics app

Hey Jasen, thanks, there is a Super Duke in there so you can see if you can ride it, apparently I am too short to ride it, but it is spot on as to how I fit on the thing, it should have weight, then it would be more useful for us short fat guys. Woo Hoo!

Re: Motorcycle ergonomics app

so for taller folks we can look at knee bend/ torso lean (degrees) for 6'2":

Bonneville - 72/14
FG800GS - 77/8
1200 GSA - 89/10
Sprint GT - 62/27
Tiger 1050 - 73/14
Honda XR650L - 80/1

tells me something I thought was true for the Honda

pretty cool I guess you try different handle bars and risers

too bad you cant put your weight in and see how the stock suspension works

Re: Motorcycle ergonomics app

Your can simulate weight in a way, you can bump up the suspension compression. You would just have to guess how much your weigh would compress it.

It's pretty good on most bikes but not on all of them. I tried it on a couple of bikes where I had issues with my knees clearing the fairing and it indicated I would have good clearance. It looked like when it adjusted for my inseam it added more of the height to my shin and did not lengthen my thigh enough.

I noticed that as well.
On the ST1300, if I slide forward at all, I bump my knees on the fairing. The app thinks I'll be good.

still interesting to play with

Motorcycle Ergonomics comparison calculator

This is a pretty cool site.... Plug in some basic physical data, choose your bike and see how you look. Then in you want, compare it to another bike.

We all miss some things. At least nobody gets hurt on the Information Highway when that happens.
