New to the metromess (and TWT)
Hey All (still not y'all)
I am looking too find an area for a quick day trip on the DRZ either ride there or trailer. I would prefer to ride there but that would mean the deathwings.. Problem is I don't have alot of spare time and I hate to lose a couple hours spooning knobs on and off. Maybe come spring I can bail overnight here and there but not now, got a new ankle biter. I intend to hit the Plano meet and check it out but any suggestions or ideas are appreciated. The poor old DRZ has seen nothing but superslab for to long and is in need of getting dirty |

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
A few of us head to Muenster on Saturdays for a day of trails on mx'ers and enduro's (trailer there). Sounds like it's in line with what you're looking for.

Here is their website www.redrivermotorcycletrails.com . The pics do not do the place justice.

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
Thanks I had heard about the area but without any endorsements it is hard to judge if it's worth it. Sounds and looks like it is! Would it be worth taking the bike up with the Deathwings? It was mud that messed them up the worst. I went some surprising places with them prior to putting on knobbies.
An hour and a half isn't too bad. I'll have to order up a new back knobbie! That'll be tough to explain to the wife I just ordered a bunch of SM stuff I am going to hit one of the thursdays in Plano just to meet some people. |

Contact Dave at Cycle Gear Plano, he'll hook you up. Bring a GPS if on Trailwings, otherwise you'll get lost trying to return to camp as they wont cut it when it gets gnarly.

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
Looks like it may be a little soupy this Saturday. How often do you head out there?

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
Don't think the rain is supposed to hit until the afternoon. The morning should be just fine!
Out of the group of folks we ride with, pretty much every Saturday there's some of us out there.

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
Sleepy, we will have a group of 4-5 riders out there tomorrow. The temps are looking to be perfect, we return around 2PM so the rain will not have hit yet. What type of dirt bike you got? Dirt days are typically 2-3 Saturdays/month.
EDIT: Albie, just saw your reply, you coming?

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
There's always Marshal Creek on lake grapevine.
I think they charge like $5 now, but it's a few acres only a few minutes from Grapevine on the north west end of the lake. Best to go there on weekdays, it can get a bit crowded on weekends and with folks riding all over the place you have to be careful about collisions.

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
We had tons of fun on Sat, the weather cooperated and the trails were great. Marshall creek is ok but few places give all day riding fun as Muenster, prolly because it is so vast (2500 acres) and has perfect terrain for everyone from beginners to trials riders. The good part is that the technical trails are not crowded at all, we have minimal encounter with other riders as the majority hangs close to the camping areas. This coming sat is looking good too.

Re: New to the metromess (and TWT)
Thursday I am having the rear tire swapped out on my Gamma. It looks like I need to order a new knobbie as well now.
Marshal creek is at least close and would allow me to get a fix anyway.. Thanks for the tips so far Gents, and hopefully I can make it to Muenster soon |

The only thing that is really "structured" about a pie run is the time and place for lunch. Usually there are several small riding groups taking a variety of routes.
