The Razorback Sidecar Rally/TURD-Oct 7-9, 2011

OK, it's not a Longhorn, an Aggie, a Red Raider, not even an Owl, a Cougar, a Mustang or a Horned Frog, not even a Tiger , but we do have a Razorback rally for us sidecar enthusiasts and TURDS (and friends of TURDS):

The 2011 Fall TURD is concurrent with the 2011 Razorback Sidecar Rally at the Sveda Terrapin** Ranch near Arkadelphia, Arkansas on October 7-9, 2011. ** Ranch motto is: We move slow around here.

An Uncertain?Rendezvous Caddo Lake sidecar rally is not scheduled for 2011, as we plan to head to the Arkansas in October.

The rally flyer & registration is shown below. You can download & print a .pdf file of the flyer and registration at the 3rd posting down here: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums...osts=3&start=1

I'll answer what questions I can, but for additional info contact Elmer at (87zero) 24six-2zero67 (no email up at the Terrapin Ranch).

I'm in. Hey beemer Bob, you going too? Comon hackers, and solo bikes too, who else is going?
If some of you "pie run folks" went to some of these small rallys, you might "get hooked" as they are a lot of fun and make for a very enjoyable weekend. HB

Yeah, I just saw this. I think I'm in, I need to make sure I don't have any geriatric appointments, but I think I’m good to go.

I can leave Thursday morning and rather than doing it in one trip (long trip for a Ural), and because our routes would be slightly different I’m thinking of going about half way on Thursday, then finish the ride to the rally site Friday morning. It might be easiest just to meet at that half-way point either Thursday eve or Friday morning.

Whatca think? Got any good ideas of where to camp Thursday? Any other TWTers going?

Hello Bob,
Thanks for the mail. I am amazed that such a fun event gets such little responce from so many that "are riders." Should I not have said that? Oh well, I'd love to meet you somewhere in deep upper East Texas Friday morning. We'll have a ball. I'll get out a map later this morning and give you a call so we can pick a spot to meet up.

Re: The Razorback Sidecar Rally/TURD-Oct 7-9, 2011

I was thinking to myself...what would iBob do? The results of that internal conversation are below...

I will attend and represent the non-hack working group of TWTs. Don't worry brothers and sisters, I will be sure to make a BIG impression!

I will leave DFW Friday morning and head back on Monday. I've made camping reservations at Degray Lake State Park.

If anyone is interested in meeting for the the ride up/back, just say the word.

I'm still working on a route. The super-slab route would take about 4.5 hours to get there. The route I'm working on is 7 hours...maybe I need not hit every road that has a bend in it...

Safe travels,
TTR

Re: The Razorback Sidecar Rally/TURD-Oct 7-9, 2011

Hi Darrin,

Welcome. Glad you are going to join us but since you don’t have a Ural you can’t be an official Texas Ural Riders Division (T.U.R.D) member, but you can come as a friend of a T.U.R.D.

I’ve sent you a message about some potential meet up sites in route. I don’t know yet when I will head home. I’m considering going to the Fall Annual Rebellious Tour (yes, that is the F.A.R.T rally) in North Carolina after this T.U.R.D get together.

Tough crowd...not even good enough to be a turd.

iBob - I think you have your trips reversed.

See you Friday afternoon!

Safe travels,
TTR

Hey all, I'm planning to spend Thursday night at Atlanta State Park (southwest of Texarkana) and then head over to Arkadelphi Friday morning(ish). if anyone wants to hook up near the Atlanta SP for the final leg to the rally site, give a holler and I'll wait for you. I'm NEVER in a hurry.

And a "top of the morning to ya." Lovely, lovely, looks like we have a 30% chance of rain this weekend. TTR, glad you can make the event too. Maybe we both can keep our eye on Bob. Bob, will you be "spending the night in the trees this weekend, or on the ground? I'm leaving here Friday morning before daylight heading to meet-up with Bob. Today I'm going to look at trial bikes(in pieces) and then off to the Mecum bike auction in Ft. Worth. Ya'll be safe. Hardy

Hardy,

What time are you planning to arrive at Altanta SP to meet Bob? If the timing works out I too might try to meet up to ride the final leg together.

Safe travels,
TTR

Great ride report Bob. I really hated to miss it but I had to take care of my sweetheart. You sure seem to get your moneys worth off road with that rig. Do you have a winch or a com-a-long for your side excursions? And what is your next trip?

From BeemberBob's Blog: ... I look up and see Lyekka heading down the road. Putt putt putt, there she goes....

Thanks for the laugh Bob. Wish I'd seen that. Glad it worked out OK.

And another: ... I also learned that one should wait until you are completely through the obstacle before yelling “Yeeehaaa”....
