Pulled from the LD Rider list

Some GREAT photos of riding in the Alps...

From the list...
Every year for the past 5, the Alpine Roads (alpineroads.com) group
has had a get-together somewhere in the hills, piggybacking on a major
Finnish group's ride for a couple of days.

Following is a link to one of the Finnish members photo album of their
ride last summer. Enjoy.

Can you imagine living in that area? Moto nirvana.

Re: Pulled from the LD Rider list

They are fortunate that TXDOT isn't there. Otherwise it is chip seal and straightened roads.

Yes...I think a smallish bike would be perfect for this series of turns...like a 600 cc sport bike or a motard.

Re: Pulled from the LD Rider list

I think if I lived somewhere like that, I'd own something like a KLX250 with two sets of wheels--knobbies and motard. A 600 would be total overkill.

Actually that looks like Versys territory. Hmm...

Versys...yea, geared down slightly!

I think a 250 cc would be a tad too weak to go up those steep passes at a decent clip. If you weigh it down with gear it might be too slow. Of course, you might get passed by some dude on the new Vespa 300 cc beauties drinking a cappuccino and going to a local poetry recital.

A big plug like a RT, ST or C-14 would not be that much fun.

Re: Pulled from the LD Rider list

They all look like pretty competent riders (and quite experienced/mature), all of the photos of the bikes in the bends have the riders leaning nicely into the bend.. I have ridden much of that area and loved it, but never seen it with such good weather!! Everytime I rode it was wet and cold.. We must have areas like that in the USA.. Anyone suggest some areas like that near to Seattle? I will have my bikes out of storage in the next 3 months and desperately want to go and explore this new (new to me!!) area of the USA..
