Working on DirtRyder's BMW project
Joe recently got in touch with me about doing some powder coating on his R100GS project.
He brought me the frame, subframe, fork lowers and a ton of smaller parts. The plan is to do most of it in semi gloss black with the fork legs and a couple of other parts in silver with clear. I had to order a large batch of powder to do the project with and I'm currently waiting until Wednesday for it to arrive so I can go full bore on the project. In the mean time though, I had enough powder to start on the small parts. Color is Paccar semi gloss black. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's very smooth. My pictures are lacking though. ![]() ![]() ![]() I should have a significant picture dump to post Wednesday. I already have the frame and subframe degreased and cleaned, ready to start blasting and coating. Last edited by Ayers Garage; 03-12-2012 at 06:17 PM. |

Thanks for letting us watch the progress, you do great work!
I don't know why I love looking at freshly powdercoated motorcycle parts so much- it's like jewelry...

Re: Working on DirtRyder's BMW project
More progress on Joe's parts.
He wanted the fork legs and engine guards done in a silver base color with clear topcoat. The forks were a mess under that thick paint. BMW castings are very porous and have lots of pits and little voids in them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Working on DirtRyder's BMW project
I'm working at the fire department tomorrow and Monday but that leaves me Saturday, Sunday to work on this stuff. I still have to coat the frame, subframe and two rear rack parts. Pictures as I get them finished.

Re: Working on DirtRyder's BMW project
Figgered, but when you zoom in on him, looks like a squirrel on a pogo stick or a crutch - one of those Jesus on a piece of toast thingies. No disrespect to the pooch at all, just funny... lol
