Camp Wood

A few weeks ago a friend and I rode the Three Sisters in the Hill Country. This was taken in Camp Wood,TX. It has been HDR processed through Photomatix.

Re: Camp Wood

Personally, I think it needs some contrast. The gray/silver appears to be a bit overpowering. The cool part is the three yellow bikes lined up.

Re: Camp Wood

Looks like an old west photo (only in color) with bikes replacing the horses... I like it.

I also like the photo, how did you make it look like that.

Re: Camp Wood

Thanks Terry. I used Photomatix Pro and did some HDR processing to it. And cropped it for better composition.

Re: Camp Wood

Will Lightroom 3 do the same as Photomatix Pro?

Re: Camp Wood

If large enough that photo would fit my decor if framed in my house, too small from here.

Re: Camp Wood

I'm not sure if Lightroom has HDR capabilities. I've never used it. If I make a print of it it will be 16x20. The photo resolution with a bit of enlargement is enough to support it.

16x20 would come out looking like the above, that would be pretty good. What does it cost to make one of that size.

They're under $10 from Adorama in NY. I've been using them for years. Upload the picture adjust if needed, pick a size, paper (3-5 choices including metallic slightly more) and you'll have it the next week. For regular 4X6 Walmart and Costco can't be beat but larger Adorama (or other online outfits) are the way to go.

What he has uploaded here is a small photo, they cannot work with the size uploaded on this thread, correct?

Re: Camp Wood

Wasn't there someone in Dallas that did that processing and enlarging? Was it Mizels or something like that?

Unless it's hosted elsewhere with the limitations on attachments an enlargement wouldn't work well at all. One of the cool things about Adorama is when you upload pictures, they will guide you to the largest size possible. If you select a 16X20 and the resolution of the pictures is not enough for a good print it lets you know.

In addition to this place there are a handful across the country that are true photo houses which specialize in different papers and techniques for all sizes of prints. Since I have never needed enlargements sooner than a week I've never looked locally. Also using an online place I can get enlargements for others sent as well....Walmart is also great for this on 4X6 or 3X5 prints...One set for us and one set for anyone else who wants printed in their local store
