Gas Gas EC300 endurocross bike $1K or trade

This is a wickedly fast two stroke bike for the experienced rider. Waaaaay too much bike for me as I've had a 25 year break in dirt bikes. I bought it thinking I'd like to ride around my place a bit with it but find its capabilities just a little too tempting, encouraging me to ride well beyond my abilities.

The good:

Recent top end, maybe 10 hours total on it per last owner. I've only put a couple hours at most on it.
Renthal fat bars with bark busters.
Very smooth hydraulic clutch and brakes.
Excel rims.
WP forks.
Ohlins rear shock.
Stainless expansion chamber with carbon fiber guard.
Complete extra set of plastics plus seat, used. Includes cowling and headlight.
Starts on a couple of proper kicks, even after sitting. Doesn't foul plugs.
Runs strong like bull, everything seems to work as it should though I have not explored the limits of its capabilities. Will apparently loft the front in any gear on throttle only though I haven't tried it in upper gears as my hair was catchin on fire.
Idles smoothly for as long as you want, once it's warmed up.
Tires look near new.
Owners manual and a few other bits and pieces.

The bad:
Starts quickly as I said, but you better have a boot on when you kick it. I saw the previous owner stand flat footed and kick it, I have to lean it against a tree to start it. No sissy kickstands on this bad boy.
Needs some new graphics. My understanding is that parts are readily available should you need them, and it shares a lot of common parts with, I think, Kawasaki.
It's been used, raced and shows battle scars on the plastics. Everything else is straight.
Needs odds and ends, nothing major. Choke on carb doesn't lock in on position, needs new kill switch (wiring is there but the button is damaged. It works but you'll get a real thrill if you push it bare handed as the magneto discharges through your body.)
No title. I may have a mfg. cert of origin, not sure if I can locate it as it was shuffled around in a move.

Price is $1000.00 or trade for something interesting, try me. Fun stuff only, a milder four stroke dirt bike would be of interest, up or down.

Re: Gas Gas EC300 endurocross bike $1K or trade

Not sure of the year, it's a 2000 something. Went out to see if it had model info on it, if it does I can't find it. I'll look to see what years they made the water cooled endurocross 300 and post it. I bought it from the classifieds on twt.

As far as trades go, something along the lines of the XR 250-650 Honda would work for me, can add cash as needed. Cash price is $1000

I think the 10th digit of the VIN indicates year.

Re: Gas Gas EC300 endurocross bike $1K or trade

Is this the original thread? Kind of looks like it but different numbers, seat cover and slightly different graphics (sort of):
http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64867
The one above was advertised as a 2001 model so I don't know if that helps any.

Good luck with the sale. I was looking for a 300 before I found my 250. My 250 has one heck of a kick when it comes on the pipe so I can't imagine how the 300 feels when it gets up and going.

Hey thanks DFW Warrior. That's the original thread from when I bought the bike. It's a 2001. And oh yeah, when it comes up on the pipe it hits hard.

Aieee, should have qualified the fun part. Already have a sportfisherman and a 25' skiff. I'd need a divorce lawyer to bring home boat #3! Thanks anyhow, the only bad offer is the one never made....

Re: Gas Gas EC300 endurocross bike $1K or trade

Okay, lots of interest but no buyer yet so let's see if this will jolt anyone into action. $850.00 firm. This is a whole lotta bike for the money, when you take a look you will immediately note the premium components it's built from as compared to what's on the showroom floor. This bike is ready to ride. Will entertain trades. Time for a new home, don't make me part it out it's too nice a bike for that though worth far more as parts.
