So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

I can't justify it but I've always wanted one of these things. I have some crazy idea that I can use it to explore backroads. It's going to take a little tinkering to get it right but doesn't look like anything too involved. As cheap as it was I can't loose money on it.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

I've been looking for a mod like that for my KTM Adventure.

Now, just need to find an orange tennis ball . . .

If you think I'm kidding, think again! I love the idea of it raising the stand up a little and providing a larger footprint for soft ground.

Just need to work out how to attach it permanently and also keep it inflated.

The pink "ELECTRIC" is a mod I'll probably avoid though.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

Oh, I see now. The dual sport guys around here are a bunch of wisenheimers. Poking fun at my tennis ball (the can says "with extra bounce") and my pink electric sticker (matches my daughter's Barbie Jeep exactly).

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

But the real question: Can you find the right powder to get the fork lowers and swingarm to match the pink electric sticker?

That would be truly manly.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

There were a couple of guys (Father and son) that rode the East Tex 450 on TWT 200's and did great, they were a little slow on the roads, but had no problem on the dirt.. They look like great fun bikes.. I often fancy one myself..

I don't see how that motorcycle can not be fun to ride. It just isn't possible.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

Hey, the last time I rode my Tdub to the hardware store in Smithville some guy was so taken with it he tried to pick me up in the parking lot. He actually left, then turned around and came back to wait for me while I was in the store. We had a nice l-o-n-g talk while I put my gear back on and I told him all about the bike.

Not sure what that was all about but anyway....those bikes are sure conversation starters!

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

It's a perfect bike for just plain piddling around. Sunday CC and I went to the car show in Leander. Afterwards we just took off on some of the local country roads around there. No destination, just going. No dirt unfortunately but still had a great time. They aren't very fast but fast enough and they go slow very well.
They are perfect for Big Bend as 45 mph is a good road speed for them. And I've done Old River Road, Black Gap, Old Ore, etc. which is a cakewalk for that bike.
And I'm getting 75 to 80 mpg average.
I do need to get some higher bars and possibly a slightly higher seat.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

I wanted one ever since they came out in 1987. Finally bought a 2001 model last January. They've achieved cult status and have a loyal following at TW200forum.com. Welcome to the T-dub club and enjoy your new ride.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

I spent some time piddling with it today. It ran poorly when I got it which I attributed to a gooped up carburetor. I got it all cleaned up very well and it still dies randomly and is hard to restart, and it periodically bucks and pops. It's looking like I might have a bad CDI box. That's a bit of a stinger. I wish it would just fail completely so I could diagnose it easier. It's hard to run electrical diagnostic tests when it acts up randomly.

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

The very best thing about a TW200 is that they are so SLOW. that you can't get bugs to splatter on the headlight. It is a scooter, not a motorcycle. And yes, I enjoyed mine too. ( I just prefer not to mention it.)

Re: So I bought the most ridiculous motorcycle today

Just for troubleshooting I would toss a fresh plug in there and look over the plug wire for any cracking. An arcing high tension lead on one bike I was working on mimicked a carburation issue that just wouldn't be fixed until I found where the wire was arcing to the head. Found it with my hand, not my eye.... ZAP YOW!

If you were as old as me then you could ride a TW and everybody would understand. Or make sure your wife is with you on her TW and they will think you have it just to have quality time with your wife while your 950 Super Enduro is waiting at home for you.
Sometimes if you are stopped and don't move some of the faster bugs with poor eyesight will run into you and splatter.

Here you go...

Although there are these as well.....maybe they have some KTM ones.

The dealer where I bought my Concours use many TW's in the BRC class in their parking lot.
