Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

Who wants to be Crazy Bob?

I will not be able to make this one. Anyone want to take the lead on organizing a camp out for the Needville pie run?

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

I am not up to CBs level of craziness so I would not make a good leader.

My 'BIG IDEA' is to show up at one or two of the camping areas and say 'Here we are!' and maybe a good blast on the horns or crack on the throttle to let them know we mean business.

No, I was really looking at just showing up at either Quintana Beach County Park or, if they are full, drop back to Brazos Bend Start Park. No reserving sites since that takes time...almost makes it work.

And if no one else shows up it will just be Drew and I.

Pick a place with plenty of trees (I hammock) and let me know where.

Brazos Bend is a nice park plenty of shade. A great place to wake up to a large gator looking for breakfast.

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

Hmm...

On looking at them, Quintana has no trees...and I also hang from the rafters. Then there's Debby who could remove that particular camp, campers and all.

Sounds like Brazos Bend if Debby gives Texas a miss. It currently says there are 42 sites available to reserve and there are 8 that can't be reserved anyway.

Then there's the part where I don't feel like riding into a hurricane. In fact I would head somewhere else for the weekend if that were the case.

No love for Debby... Also, I am not volunteering for any sort of organizational duty. I can't go anyway but even if I could, my skillz are limited to naming things and falling over sideways. Frequently at the same time.

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

I wont make Friday, but I can set things up if anyone is interested. Please post up if you plan to camp and I will figure out a spot. I will need someone to grab spots for on Friday since I won't be there. Sorry I missed this thread. I haven't been into TWT since the pie town run because my phone has been suicidal and self destructing every few days.

Debby should go awash. No worries there.

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

So no takers? Will it just be me camping solo amongst the animals??

Whoever shall snore to strike fear in the beasts?
Whoever shall cook to calm my grumbling stomach?
Whoever shall fall in hammock to prove gravity still works?

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

I am a maybe. I have a few days off, so I have been thinking about doing the Pie run... I'm thinking of taking the long way from Austin to Brazos bend on Friday for camping, eat me some pie on Saturday and then head home. Then on Sunday I plan to head over to Davy Crockett NF for a few days of riding up there...

While you are laying in a pool of sweat, stomach growling, raccoon chewing on you're toes, I will think how nice the hum of my air conditioner sounds as I am snug in my bed. LoL

hmm never thought of using my toes as raccoon bait for dinner... just toss him out in the sun and I can have sun dried coon. My hammock is all mesh, so I don't have the sweat issue. I will get froze outta my hammock at <75 degrees. 80 is down right perfect.

I like camping though for two reasons.
1) I get out in nature... Its just me and my iron horse. Takes me back to them old cowboy days, minus the indians, gun fights, knocking off banks and so on.

2) it supports state & local parks, keeping places like palo duro canyon (beautiful by the way) and so many other wonderful places open.

Re: Crazy Bob's June Pie Run Campout

Well, since Debby has truly given us a miss, I'll be there +1, wherever 'there' is. And that looks to be Brazos Bend SP.

See you at pie and/or camp.....sweat pools and all.
