East Texas 450 (500 + actually) October 12 - 13 -14 2012

OK...... It's time!!!!!!
Dual Sport Ride in East Texas. Riding National Forest roads.
(Requires both street legal bike and rider)

Beginning prep for our next, no guide (there will be group leader to help you get more lost than if you try it by yourself), no sponsor (but we might accept award type donations ,) no fees ride for October 12 - 13 - 14. Once again this will be an informal ride. But maybe we can arrange some surprises.

We changed dates for this years ride to avoid the opening of rifle deer season (we will still contend with bow hunters) as well as any conflict with other great rides scheduled during October. I understand this will mess up some and for this I am truly sorry.

This ride goes through Angelina, Sabine, and Davey Crockett National Parks

Schedule: Northern Riders
Day 1 Rusk to Toledo Bend (Headquarters: Bean Camp Grounds)
Day 2 Beans to Livingston
Day 3 Livingston to Rusk

Schedule: Southern Riders> 8:00am from Walmart parking lot. Park in front of the garden center toward the street.)
Day 1 Livingston to Toledo Bend (Beans Campground)
Day 2 Beans Campground to Rusk KOA
Day 3 Rusk KOA to Livingston.

Scheduled departure will be 8am each day. (or there about)

Here are some suggestions for lodging/camping:

Super 8 in Livingston (936-327-2451) for motel on Thursday night (October 10) for southern riders arriving early and Saturday night northern riders wanting to motel it.

Both groups will come together this first night (October 12th)
Bean's VIP Campground - 409.625.3474 - Toledo Bend Reservoir, Milam, TX (Cash Only)
Patty Bean and her husband run this campground and promise to take good care of us.
Tent sites are available for 16.00 per night for two people and 24.00 per night for a group of four. Sites hold 1-3 tents. Large central fire pit, fire wood for free. Patty Bean and her husband will host an early morning feast of juice, coffee and pastry. This is done for donations. BE SURE TO DONATE. Last year it was nice to wake up to the smell of fresh coffee.

Holly Park Marina - 409.625.4424
Just down the street from Bean's; this location has a motel, cabins, and additional tent camping. Normally they have a 2 night minimum for motel/cabins but they will give us one night at least until it starts getting filled. So if you don't camp, call early.

Fin and Feather Resort - 877.217.7999
Very comfortable with a price to match.

There are many other options in the Toledo Bend area. Two Wheels Texan nor anyone associated with ride is in any way affiliated with the listed resorts.

Headquarters for Northern riders for Ride start, southern riders for Saturday Night: October 13th, and Dirty Butt riders for Friday and Saturday.
Rusk KOA- 903.683.6641 - Rusk, TX
Located just east of Rusk, TX on Highway 343.
They have cabins, tent sites, clean showers, and a small store.

I have not made any camping arrangements for the northern rides for Saturday night. I'll keep working on that.
Last year several of us stay at the Livingston State Park on Thursday night. A very nice location but a little out of town on the lake.

Last year we had such a great success. Many Great riders. Good representation of bikes and riders. Weather was good and met many new friends.

I am going to try to get in on this ride since I will finely be back in Texas for it. But since I will start looking for a job here shortly (again I retired from the Air Force) and I will not know my schedule or if I have/can get Friday off during that weekend so for now I have to say maybe. My plan is to live somewhere in SE Texas but I'm going where I can get a job at but I should be close enough either way. I will give it my all to make it and update ya often.

Sure Rob.
We will post a schedule of where we are for each evening and morning. Just show up and join a group of like speed/skill riders. There are always riders coming and going during the weekend. We ask only that you let that specific ride leader know when you arrive and leave any group.

Thanks for the offer. We are in needed of a support driver. My Grandson did it last year but it doesn't look like he is off this year. Let's keep in touch as your plans firm up OK

I think one of my clients will be riding my XR4 while I ride my XR6. I've been very busy lately with a move to Houston and setting up my new shop near my new house. Glad you are going to be able to make it Travis. We would love to have you lead another group this year. Enjoyed riding with you last year.

Hmm.. I think you sandbagged on our last ride when you showed up on that heavy, old Beemer, than proceeded to ride it like a hopped up 450!
