A mainstay of the motorcycle community, Surfer Joe, passed away last week of a heart attack.
He was 66. Joe has been part of the Houston motorcycle and surf community for as long as I can remember. If you've ever had your bike repaired/repainted at many of the dealerships in town, or been to a CMRA race or track day, you've probably seen his work or had your bike painted by Joe. Joe did most of the paint repair work for the majority of the motorcycle shops here in town. He was also a dedicated surfer and refinished boards as well, hence the name of his business; Joe's Bikes and Boards. Joe had a unique view of life, and was probably the most down to earth and cheerful guy you'd ever want to meet. He also did some awesome work on bikes, cars, surf boards and anything else that could be painted over the years. Joe was in excellent health and his death shocked everyone around him. His untimely death left his daughter struggling to take care of his final preparations. If you get a sec, check out her blog: mrsbackslider.blogspot.com, and if you can, donate a couple of bucks to help give back some of what Joe spent his life giving to the motorcycle community. Thanks.

Re: Surfer Joe.... Godspeed my friend.
I met Joe through his daughter Angela. I was active in the Subaru community in the past...and met Angela when she was selling cars... She eventually came to work for my wife and I at our business. Joe was a great guy! A laid back spirit...and a truly talented man. He will be missed. RIP old friend.
