For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
Selling my 92 model TW. I just did a full, and I mean full, restoration. Bare frame, everything powdercoated.
-New OEM Yamaha CDI box, stator and pulser coil. -All new OEM Yamaha plastic body parts -Clarke oversize tank -Seat Concepts seat -ProTaper taller handlebars -AllBalls bearings. No more loose ball bearings like stock -Tusk hand guards -Cyclerack rear rack -All LED bulbs throughout -New tires and heavy duty tubes front and rear -Every seal or rubber part on the entire bike replaced with new OEM Yamaha -New DID o-ring chain -New levers and grips, clutch cable, all seals and o rings on the engine -Moose skid plate -Carb fully gone through, and properly rebuilt with OEM parts and rejetted -Ceramic coated exhaust -Hardware throughout replaced with new socket head bolts. -BelRay fluid throughout from engine oil to fork oil. Even Belray grease was used for all assembly work. -There is no paint on this bike anywhere. Every single thing you see in the pictures is powder or ceramic coat. I don't think there is another TW200 in this country that comes close to the quality of this bike. As an example, I replaced the stator, CDI, and Pulser coil. That's nearly 700 dollars right there. That's expensive, but it's also guaranteed reliable when you're far from home. Price is 4000 dollars. Blue Texas title in my name. Registration is one week old. I'm not really negotiable on the price too much. When I show you page after page of new OEM Yamaha parts on it totaling 1000s of dollars, you'll understand. If it doesn't sell I'll just put it in a case in my office. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks amazing. I love the T-dub. The ceramic and powder coating are far superior to factory paint. I know this is a great bike. My concern is, can you sell it that close to the price of a new one?

I think it's worth the money. Look at it this way, guys are paying 5500 dollars out the door for a new one.
That new bike has a junk chain that will last 5k miles tops. Mine has a 100 dollars premium chain. Mine also has 175 dollar seat, 50 dollar handlebars, 200 dollar tank, 100 dollar skidplate, and 175 dollar rack. Better grips, windshield, on and on..... Any mine looks better than anything Yamaha ever sold across the showroom floor. |

Not to mention, I don't think there are mechanical differences between a new one and this one.
From what I saw on the build thread, he put it back to new condition, well better than new with the awesome powder coating.

Re: For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
Pretty is nice but what about the engine, after all it is a '92? I see nothing regarding engine refurbishing. Is the engine comparable to the cosmetics? Looking pretty on the side of the trail is still an unpleasant experience.

It's got 3000 miles on it. I adjusted the cam chain, adjusted the valves, new spark plug, new oil, and replaced all the seals and gaskets. It doesn't need anything. If I was cutting corners I wouldn't have replaced the stator and pulser coil just to assure reliability. My background is in building airplanes and I take that safety and reliability attitude towards anything I work on.

Re: For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
I think it's a freaking beautiful piece of work. It's worth the price if you consider what is new on the market in that price range. Yes, I know it's not NEW, but I would consider it better than new based on the improvements.
The right buyer is out there, although it won't be one of the masses that will view it. It will be that one guy that appreciates it for what it is. I'd be that guy if the timing and space were better for me. Are you open to any type of trades? GLWS

Re: For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
I went back and read this thread again. I'm not trying to come across as smug or arrogant. I built this bike for myself and I cut no corners and spared no expense during the process. Anything that even showed the slightest issue, I replaced with the best parts available regardless of price. Heck, I waited 10 days for a new OEM seal for the speedometer cable housing. I just realized it's been finished about a month and I have ridden it about 5 miles or so. I ride my Royal Enfield a lot but this one sits in the bay of my shop and gets pushed outside every morning and inside every night. I'm just not riding it. With my work situation at the fire department and running my shop, I see not a single free day in my future within the next year or so. Why waste a neat bike ? That's why my price is firm. It's not hurting anything but my pride by sitting around. I don't want it to waste away but I don't want to take a bath on the sale price.
No, I didn't rebuild the engine. It has a bit over 3000 miles on it and has no issues at all. Yamaha builds better engines than any shop does and I saw no need to start throwing new parts into an engine that was built by Yamaha and has no issues. Often, when you start messing with something good, you create problems that weren't there to start with. I had the engine on the bench so I did all the maintenance stuff like adjusting timing chain and valves. And I replaced all the seals like shifter, countershaft, kickstarter, oil sight glass, side cover gaskets on both sides, o rings on the valve covers and timing chain cover. Fresh oil change and spark plug and it's ready to go. Here is a cut and paste of just the investment I made in OEM Yamaha parts on this build. This is none of the aftermarket parts or tires and any of that. This is stock replacement parts... 70320097 2012-08-24 08:33:12 $50.15 View Order 70278490 2012-07-23 09:02:20 $36.49 View Order 70261951 2012-07-10 09:21:51 $8.22 View Order 70261334 2012-07-09 20:07:44 $237.85 View Order 70254573 2012-07-04 12:33:40 $106.35 View Order 70238621 2012-06-21 22:35:25 $10.39 View Order 70224686 2012-06-11 17:22:40 $389.77 View Order 70220367 2012-06-07 20:58:38 $276.21 View Order That's over 1100 dollars worth of Yamaha parts there from Powersports Plus which is the cheapest OEM parts channel out there. |

Re: For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
Another "Plus" for consideration is this has the electric start and kick-start.
The newer TW's come without the kick-start. (though you can add it by simply installing the parts) Awesome job on the resto!!! One question.

Re: For sale, nicest Yamaha TW200 in the country
Saw this while researching TW200's...
Looks like it is an eBay "model" as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-TW200...#ht_522wt_1139 edit...just noticed it was your eBay ad, thought the vendor may have liked what you did and added you bike to his advertisements. Guess it's sort of correct...

This was a great for sale thread. I think you did a great job on this TW. I hope I see it in person someday.
