New guy from Cypress

Just checking in to say hi. I recently purchased a Honda NC700X after not riding for almost 15 years. I am really enjoying the new Honda, hope to hook up with some of you and do some group rides.

When I first read that, I had to do a double take because I thought it said, "There are a lot of us retarded riders on this forum, and lots of dual-sport owners."

I love dual sport riding but I wouldn't consider non dual sport riders as retarded

Awesome on the new Honda. I rode the demo at Honda of Houston a few weeks ago and was very impressed with it. A very practical machine.

Thanks Sloan! The more I ride it, the more I like it. Going fast and getting crazy are both behind me, I just like to ride, take in the scenery and smell the smells. This bike has plenty of fun, usable power (torque) without having to turn 8000+ rpm at 100 mph with my hair (whats left) on fire. Plan to wear out the original street tires, replace them with 80/20's, slowly farkle it and let the adventures begin.

Hey Xcellor, I recognize you from the NC700 forum

I still haven't seen any other 700x's in the Houston area, I'm down in the Friendswood/Webster area.

Re: New guy from Cypress

I heard there's a recall coming out for the 700 already. Something about some improperly heat-treated end plates on some of the chains. See, the chain is already the weakest link on the model! Horrible pun, I know.

It seems funny that here they have a brand new model, and it's the freaking chain that causes a recall.

Still, if the model is overall pretty sound, AND they offer a manual shift with ABS next year, I may consider trading my VFR800 for one. I like my vfr and we've done a lot, but man I cook at stoplights on the way to work in the summer!

Re: New guy from Cypress

Hey Xcellor,
While i live in Lufkin I have family in cypress and I am down there maybe a weekend a month. Additionally, I've been wanting to see one of those new hondas AND i will be down there this saturday getting new tires on my Adventure. I'll PM ya with my contact info, and on the off chance you're free saturday night maybe we could go for a short buzz around cypress, or if not this weekend some other time I'm down there. Good luck with the new machine and welcome aboard!

Re: New guy from Cypress

Faunus2011, drop by Honda of Houston on Hwy 290 at West road. They have a manual-shift model out front as a demo. Assuming you have a motorcycle license, just bring gear and insurance and they'll let you take it for a spin. Well, assuming it isn't raining anyway.

And unless they've sold it they have one inside fully optioned out.

10-4 Sloan.

It'd still be nice to meet a new rider with the new model. Nothin' like meetin' other riders!
