Water pump was leaking slightly. It is a very common thing with these bikes, and only costs about $40 to fix if you do it yourself. To see how common, it is actually a sticky in the how-to section of ex-500.com  I fixed it following that post back in November, and as far as I can tell there are no issues now. See next post for other maintenance I did while repairing the water pump seal.

Water pump is now repaired, and since I had the coolant and oil out I checked and adjusted the valves. Bike runs great (it already did, but now better)! Price back up to 3K flat now that all is good as new.

For anyone needing a cheap commuter, or a great well maintained bike to learn on this one is still for sale. New price of $2,800.
Mileage is now at about 10,500.
