New guy here saying hi and a ?

I'm riding Friday from the north side of Houston (i think), and I'm trying to plan a route that I've not been on. i've done the 249-149-3090 thing a ton and was looking for some other routes. Looking for about 200-350 mi trip. any thoughts? I'm too lazy to try to search right now, but I'll be reading here a lot. Hope to run into some of you out in the real world.

Leggett (North of Livingston) to Colmesneil via 942 and 1745. Texas Star Cafe in Colmesneil is very biker friendly and has good food.

Check the map after that. Several cool roads in the area towards LA. and up towards Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. All forest and very nice.

P.S. So what do you ride, live and look like. Be sort of nice if we run into you if we had a clue.

Any trip out into the West area of Houston is really nice, like Sealy, Somerville, that area. They have a lot of scenic routes.

Where is Meyerland?

Re: New guy here saying hi and a ?

You're right around the corner from me. Welcome to the site. I grew up in west Houston so I head out in that direction to ride most of the time because I'm more familiar with the area than anywhere else. However, it takes me about an hour to get to the nearest good riding from Bellaire (racer road between Pattison and San Felipe). From there I just ride around north of I-10 through Bellville, Industry, Cat Springs etc. until my butt goes numb and head back. It's mostly pretty tame stuff compared to the Hill Country and I haven't tried the route that you mentioned so I don't know how it compares. I'll have to try yours some time soon.

Also, I ent on a ride with the Star Riders once (see bushwacker) southwest of Houston on a road called Tanner, I think. That was fun but there didn't seem to be aything else in the area.

Texas Star Cafe is a great place to eat. I too recommend. If you go to Colmesneil and want to go farther, you can take a trip around Lake Sam Rayburn. Its about 140 miles give or take to go around the lake, but its really nice scenery. If you want to know some good roads, let me know and I can spit out some for you.
