::: From rainy Cambodia to sunny Vietnam

Re: From rainy Cambodia to sunny Vietnam

Dude, you're making me Nostalgic. Your pics remind me of the days when I trekked all over southern China. Even made it to "Friendship Pass." Unfortunately b/c of missing documentation and approvals was unable to make it into Vietnam. Vietnam is still one of my must do dream destinations.

:sun:

So you decide to keep dreaming or do something else? I think someone here is building up his plan to come over

Checked the bike before rolling again.

Good one, lot of energy...

Aah balut, very delicious. To explain the taste to unknowing TWT'ers, it is like chicken and dumplings served inside a shell. My kids love to eat them. I have to stop them after 6 pcs. or so otherwise they would overdose.

That's a great idea Viet. Not just a group ride but, a TwTex group Vietnam and Cambodia trip, maybe next November when South Vietnam is cool and dry from the Northern Monsoons.

Would defenitely be there if someone arranged it:rider:

Awesome pics....keep em coming.
Thank you. There would be some more.

If you not hurry, there may be someone doing that before you. What bike do you expect to ride so you afraid of raining? Cm' on, it's dry now. Dry and hot like **** :sun: :zen:
Btw, if you guys come, don't need to bring with TWT stickers, I still have some. :rider:

We saw they sell instant noodle, so why not? We asked the girl to make each of us one can.

Looks weird, right?

Don't be surprised with such kind of transportation in Cambodia:

DSC06092_zps656b0c49.jpg

Do you know what is it? It's mobile supermarket:

DSC06093_zps708eadf4.jpg

At the rural area, with very few population, this kind of mobile market is very popular and effective. They sell everything in that cage. From food, cake, toys, cooking oil, diesel oil, household stuff...

DSC06094_zpsdd518ed0.jpg

We even have Cambodia coffee - delivered from nowhere:

Friendly bikers and locals:

We communicate with them by Vietnamese - yes.

Look at the new Tenere, worry for its front forks, without any cover:

Worry about nothing for my GS. More dirt, more fun

Oh this pix was intentionally taken to introduce my brand new Icon Patrol boots. After my first trip with almost riding time under the rain and wet, I think have spent money well:

You guys can notice the red-orange boxes on the road side. They are drink cool-box. So wherever you see that box along the road, meaning to say you can have some cold drinks.

Great pictures, is that trash on roads legal? There is a lot on back roads around central Texas also. I guess there are a few slothful people wherever we go.

I don't know it is considered legal or not but there plenty of them along the road. Consider this is rural area, near to the border, population there very minimum so the social services are not as the central

Finally, we reached the border gate at noon time.
Well, if you familiar with international trips, you may know that crossing border is always a big issue.
In both LWR and LWD, they have big crew doing all passport, visa, permission stuff for the team, even months ahead departure, but they still face with border problem.
We go as the flower blown by the wind, no detail plan, no preparation for paperwork, permission application, etc... So, we are prepared with hours waiting at the gate. It's fun though.

DSC06120_zpsda81c672.jpg

Wish I just climb up here and cross the border without doing any paperwork :lol2::

It's very small and rural gate, so there is almost no traffic between Cambodia and Vietnam there.

To me, the famous guys in the clip looked like a group of clowns. The way they dressed and ride like spitting to the local cultural and traffic rules.

I agree. They are that way everywhere they go.
I still wish I could experience the wondrous sights and sounds of Vietnam and Cambodia for myself.

Vey eager to see how you got on with the custom's officials and process.

Yeah, we out of Cambodia.
Now we are in front of Vietnam:

DSC06135_zps6b1b2140.jpg

It was dry since we reached the border. It's Vietnam Checkpoint office. Quite a big one, in comparison with the traffic here.

People passed the gate. Bikes were still at the other side:

A friend of us rode about 200km to meet us at the border. So great guy:

IMG-20140731-00195_zpsd0bf0f97.jpg

Another team is waiting for us approx 200km away, they are having lunch. Waiting for us to confirm we crossed the border than they will come to the nearby City.
Friend's bike proved that he has been thru a not easy road in the rain::

This bro get a motor taxi to buy lunch for all:

Okay, finally. Yeah, ****, we made it to get all our bikes crossed the border, after almost 4 hours waiting and searching for helps.

We called our friend from Nha Trang, they are around 200km away the muster point. It was almost 5PM.

And we enjoyed our 50km to the muster point in rain, fog and dark:

Another finally of the day, we made it to the hotel just after 6PM.:

DSC06147_zps56e7fc0d.jpg

It 's dark when we checked in:

DSC06150_zpscdb5e867.jpg

Can you see the hotel front yard? It made from granite or ceramic. And that's stupid idea, really stupid.
You know why? Because it is very slippery when being wet. I and my buddies were almost had a mishap when entering this yard by turning around the water pond at the middle. Stupid design.

DSC06147_zps56e7fc0d.jpg

Our Nha Trang friends arrived around 8PM:

DSC06152_zpscdd59bfd.jpg

They also almost had problem with the slippery yard:

We went for dinner out by taxi. Then brought some food, got some beers from hotel restaurant and had good time until after midnight.
****, we could not finalized our route for the day after :)

I like your avitar!

Very nice pictures. I hope to be able to travel one day.
