A short 90 mile Recon Ride.
Trying to find a suitable jumping off point for my retirement RAT ride. Not trying for Iron Butt time just because. In this small overlooked corner of the RGV. Was looking to start at the Southmost Point of Texas. It's here at Plias 26 which you can't access.276488

Next best thing I found was the near by Rabb Plantation House at the Sabel Palm Sanctuary. 276491

Lots of early Texas History and still preferred cartel smuggling area.
A little more challenging for a start point opens at 0700 closes at 1700, closed Wensday's. Plan going West get the hard part done first🤔. Won't have a timed receipt but will be on Home Land Security video.🙄
Carry On

Out early this morning for breakfast in Junction. Lotsa deer were also up early, a few made me thankful for ABS.

Then down to ride some winding hill country roads towards Lost Maples. The trees are starting to turn, maybe two more weeks.

Is your friends bike a 1000? I dropped mine for first time last week at nearly 0mph. I had to get help to lift it. I always said I would never own a bike I couldn't lift. May be that time again.
Great report and pictures

Supposed to switch from the north tonight .

No pics, but I took ms pacman for a ride today for the first time in 24 years. She stopped riding when our first kiddo came along, and now that the youngest is more or less capable of self-sufficiency she decided she wanted to get back into it. So we've been collecting gear over the last few weeks (thanks @Mr2mch for helping me locate some great deals on ladies gear - we bought the Olympia suit you found on eBay) in preparation for our Eureka Springs trip next week, and today was our shakedown run. We rode for about 2 hours with a stop for breakfast in the middle, and it couldn't have gone better. The Concours 14 OEM gel touring seat I recently got was very comfortable for her, and she was very happy to have helmet coms so she could jam to tunes and chat with me. Something we never got to do in our younger years when we rode together as teens and young adults. All in all she had a great time was really happy to be back on a bike. Can't tell you how nice it was to ride with my best friend again. :rider::rider:

She's already thinking about getting a bike of her own. :thumb::thumb:

She will most likely want to buy more feminine looking new stuff later on, but this was a good way to get her back on 2 wheels for pretty minimal cash outlay.

Rode over in the wind today to Bastrop State Park to see how it's doing. Had a nice relaxing run on Camp Road 1C to Buescher SP and back, slow 30 mph speed limit so practiced keeping a good line and enjoyed the scenery. Nice to see the park bouncing back almost 10 years after the big fire. Still a long way to go, not likely to ever look the same but that's they way of these things. No pics of the bike in nature, but here's a couple from the overlook at the top of the big hill.

Took off north to Trails End cafe for breakfast, then stopped to visit some big people. Headed across the Red to Chickasaw Recreational Area, weather was perfect and the water was the best I have seen there. It was 2GENAE on his FJR and beautiful wife and I on the RT. Stopping at the St Jo square on the way back and went through the museum.
