Post your Day Rides Here!

Not sure about the HP numbers but it is super easy to life the front end. The brakes are also incredible. Stoppies were so easy…

Went and got the last 3 stops I am going to get this year for the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas (will give me 27 total).

Left Katy around 7am and headed to Rusk to get the Train Depot first. Took 45 to Huntsville and headed up through Trinity to Crockett, then to Rusk. I had bundled up when I left, temp showed 47, but I was OK. The full faring on the Goldwing helps a lot with that.
Stopped in Crockett for gas and headed up Tx 21 to Alto. Very pretty ride on that road. A ton of historical markers on that road.
Got to Rusk and and got my pic for the Tour, had a bathroom break, and a little walk around. There were getting ready for Halloween there and had a bunch of stuff set up for some kind of event.

Took off the sweat pants I had over the jeans and the jean jacket I had on over the motorcycle jacket (yeah, I know, ghetto, but kept me warm) and headed to Palestine. Only Like 28 miles between the 2. Temperature was still very cool, but in the sun was not bad. Problem is, most of that has tall trees along the road, so very little sun. Almost pulled over to put the denim jacket back on, but was OK.

From there I headed to Donie to get a pic at the Texas Sidecar Company.
2021-10-30 11.56.08.jpg

Headed south on 80 out of Donie and hit Tx39 and took that down to Iola (waved at Mallet's BBQ, but did not stop) and then took 244 to to 3090 to Hwy 6 and then home to Katy on 290. Got home just before 3pm, right about 400 miles.

Again, just a beautiful day for a ride, and really had a nice time just out riding without a thought on my mind.

Fall trip. 2nd day. Today we rode thru Ruidoso to Cloud Croft by way of 244. Stopped at an overlook that you can see Whitesands from. Went to Alamogordo and started north on 54 to Las Vegas. Took our time. Sight seeing. We had dinner at Pino's. Tomorrow we will ride the Enchanted Circle and take 64 toward Chama. Been a great trip so far.

A group of 10 of us from Waco and Temple rode to the Lawn Atlas Missile Site Saturday. This was my birthday ride as I turned 81 Friday. This site is located 2.4 miles out of Lawn, TX on fm 604. Larry Sanders is the future owner and to take a tour contact him at 325 280 9283. He does accept a donation for his tour.
Here is a link to an Expedition Texas video of the facility:

DFW BMW crew did a little day-trip out to the Edgewood TX Heritage Festival on Saturday.
Great little festival in the historic village of Edgewood TX. They've moved old buildings into the town square to represent the past era from the surrounding areas.
When they have the festivals, the buildings are open for you to inspect and imagine yourself in the Way-Back Machine.

Tractor show, car show, craft show and sale, a bake sale (yum!) , a food court, rides and games for the kids, and most of the volunteers are dressed in period garb. Fun time is a small town.

Then we ran down to the Pint and Barrel is Palestine for lunch.

Danco302 and I rode to Thorndale yesterday for their car show. There were some beautiful cars and trucks and it was a great atmosphere there.
I had not been to Thorndale before and I really liked it. We had lunch at the Thorndale Meat Market, which was excellent.

I did about 250 miles yesterday on this ol' fella:

uwKbd0clLIhDoRPv8__AsKG5C2CJ_jnNr3DdwUGAj63y=w1024.jpg

I passed these on-lookers before leaving Alpine:

It's fun to bounce around on. But I really do mean BOUNCE! I bottomed out the forks several times popping along some back roads in Terlinuga Ranch. Then, on the pavement, that 9 gallon tank makes the front pogo-stick around. Feels both under-sprung and under-damped. I need to research the front-end on these....

I got in a little too deep in the sand and rocks with that big boy. Heavy bike I'm unfamilar with, alone in the boonies, trying to run "XR" pace. Those are my excuses for pulling the eject lever and heading up to the basin to cool off.

Nice day!

I was on call this weekend, so just did my local loop. Which doesn't suck:

The fall colors are really starting to shine on the Guadalupe.

I lost the back end a bit in a corner just before stopping for this picture.

I like that the big girl gives me a little hint that its time to slow down a fuzz before putting me in a ditch. Or maybe it was just the new tires.

Well, I may be on my way to becoming a slacker. My boss is a bit hard to get along with. Today I was waiting on things from clients that I had to have to continue on with the current projects. I was assured last Thursday that they were on there way and should be here any minute.

I got caught up on most everything that needed done that I had put off for a while, and decided to check and see if UPS had came yet as I had a package I was expecting. Went outside and it was gorgeous. No UPS, so went back in, walked by the bike on the way in. Sat at my desk for a few minutes and thought this is dumb. So following conversation happened.

Me: Hey, I think I am going for a ride.
Boss: What if that client gets back to you?
Me: Well I have been waiting for three days now.
Boss: Yep, soon as you leave they will send it.
Me: Probably, but it is already 3:00.
Boss: Well if you can make it up later I suppose, get out of here.
Me: ***gone*** :rider:

So finally got out for the first time this month. Ran a loop of 109 miles. The roads were not great, a few with new sealcoat and a few that were being worked on. But, the ride was great!

Only took one photo. Had several miles of the below. Some places the road was totally covered. I took it pretty easy in the grass covered corners. Could not imagine the grass would do anything good for traction.

Not sure I mentioned it on here before, but I have worked for myself for over 30 years. This was not the first conversation like this I have had with my boss. Maybe he will eventually mellow out. :-)

Been awhile since I've posted anything - thought I'd share a recent quick 🏍trip.

Had a long time friend get into motorcycling earlier this spring... (he bought a V-Strom 650 used from a listing here on TWTEX)
He’s a gearhead and used to race shifter carts, so I knew he’d get up to speed after a few months of riding.
Anyway, we did a last minute ride out to Leakey Friday Nov. 5th - Monday the 8th.

Attaching links to the ride I lead him on - we hit pretty much every good road out there and a few of them multiple times.
Stayed here 3 nights in Leakey- very convenient https://thespringslodging.com/sitemap/

We got in a good day of riding mostly in San Augustine county. Starting in Nac we touched on the Angelina National Forest and Sam Rayburn.
