What is your job?

I didn't wanna to say it on an open forum, but I'm a Captain in the Mexican Navy. All the illegals in the Americas are really sleeper cells in our navy. We can join together and take down the Great Satan once and for all. They are about to vote for socialism anyway. Meet me on the southern edge of Joe Pool Lake to plan the ambush.

Over.

SHHH Youll blow the plan. You dont want to reveal the undercover ops (oh wait I just did, )

This thread will dominate. There's nothing people like better than talking about themselves -- and that includes me, too.

:lol2:

Officially, my title is Art Director/Producer. What it really means is that I conjure all different types of creative media, including music & jingles, television spots, radio spots, special video & film projects, graphic arts & ad concept, scripts, etc. I work for one of the oldest advertising and creative agencies in western Texas.

Throughout the 1990s I worked as a graphic artist, musician, and recording engineer. I got interested in learning film & video in the early 2000s and recently won a regional award for the short historical documentary Midland, Texas: Oasis on the Badlands.

I stay very busy as a professional guitarist and singer, as well, playing in two bands and doing occasional session work.

Yes, I love to work all the time, and no, I don't have kids. :rider:

Sr. PCB Layout Designer <-- official title

I design the layout and create the artwork for printed circuit boards.

Well, I just got to work and dont have anything to do yet...so today, I thought I would start a random thread with a lil worth to it. I just want to say what do you do (JOB). Thought it would be interesting to see where we all come from and all the different walks of life.

I think the worth is in the job, theres a lot to come from networking within social groups. Some of us may be in the same field. Maybe we'll need help with something and we never knew the other guy that could've helped you out. I'll start:

I'm a Volunteer Coordinator (head over the volunteer program) for Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas. Its a non profit org. that helps the local community. Catholiccharitiesbmt.org

By day I'm the sales and logistics manager for a marine services company called Liquid Transfer & Team Services. By night I teach karate.....well, I'm actually between schools since I just moved out here (in December); and making time to do so has been a bear; but after 15 years of study I'm not giving it up.

So what you're saying is that your job sucks. ;-)

Commodities Relocation Engineer

Sounds sooooo much more exciting than Night Ops Supervisor for a freight company. I have guys on the dock loading outbound trucks and I pretty much direct traffic, deciding what goes on what truck. But usually, you'll find me rooting around inside the trucks with them, helping to get the freight packed or walking the dock checking in freight, inspecting it, booking it, etc. It's a marvelously wonderful way to eat up a night. But, the future's bright.:sun:

I would but I'm deathly afraid of the water. Besides, the Great Satan makes crappy beer, who want's it.
Our directive is to posture and puff out our chest. If the Great Satan calls our bluff we have been ordered to run away or give up without resitance! It's called the Iraqi Shuffle.
We have been issued wepons but were denied amunition. The justification by the Prime Minister was that; "We might shoot our eye out".
We are waiting until the silly Americans vote Hillary into office and we can buy real ships for pennies on the dollar.
So while your offer is generous we must respectfuly decline. Besides, Tacos give me gas....:eek2:

I am a field service technician for a forklift company.

My specialty is electric powered lifts.

I have worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and an engine mechanic for electric power generation also.

Heh-heh. I'm just very blessed and fortunate, that's all. Then again, we all are, because we live in America.

:patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

My Achilles heel is that I'm definitely the eccentric artist type in many ways. I obsess over everything (especially details), I tend to overvalue my work and opinions, I have a sometimes-unhealthy drive to make my mark, and I don't receive criticism very well. I also have trouble just sitting down and relaxing, because I feel like I'm wasting valuable time. The term "tormented artist" definitely suits me in certain situations.

Systems Analyst for Sam Houston State. I got dropped in with little experience to manage ~100 servers when most of the IT team left over a 6 month period... I've done decently I guess. Wish I had done better.

Natural gas processing plants and pipelines manager in deep south Texas. Very demanding but I enjoy the challenge.

Staff accountant for a not-for-profit community health foundation. We provide grants for non-profit health clinics and free dental care for school kids and working Austin musicians. There's a whole lot more we do but that's the condenced version.

Systems Programmer, Big Blue boxes :zen:

+1 - official job title is Sr. Systems Programmer. But since 'mainframe' has become a dirty word around here, I'm morphing more and more into an SAP Basis administator and Oracle DBA.

Does anybody here, besides me, think that having a job really sucks?

I mean don't you feel like you are slave chattel or something? People telling you what to do and stuff, ordering you around, evaluating you with a piece of paper every year and comparing you to the others, and other Nazi-Communist like modes of behavior, etc.

Or if you are a boss do you feel you have real power? Even though if you were stranded on the side of the road naked all of your employees would laugh at you.

Mike

I'm a mod on TWT. Interesting work. Pay sucks.

Really, Geologist by degree & license. Working for a geotechnical engineering firm, so at any time I may be:

Logging soils
Writing reports
Quality Manager
manual labor
Proofreader
....

President of the DC Lites Company,a 15 person job shop. We make things that get blown to pieces,or, are shot at someone and blown to pieces when it gets there.
What I really do though,is come in around 9:30 in the morning, say good morning to all the employees, order a few things for the company, play on the forums, then go home at 3:00 pm, and irritate my wife.
