The rest of the ladies should be back and posting soon. I'll let them start the ride report since I forgot my camera!!!

Re: Ladies Only - 11/30/08

Just made it home. It took longer than I would have liked due to I-45 being a backed up mess the whole way! I finally bailed in Conroe and cut over to 59.

Had a great time today! I really enjoyed meeting some of the other lovely ladies of TWT.

No pictures from me, but I look forward to seeing the ones that were taken.

Justine - Hope you are feeling better.

Re: Ladies Only - 11/30/08

I'm home, and I just got a call from Chuck saying Susan was home. I had a great time. The route was beautiful and seeing everyone was great.
I didn't take any pictures either....

300 miles exactly for me. Chuck said that their house is 20 miles from mine, so that puts Tortuga at 340.

I'm home too, and I also don't have any pictures!

I had a great time and look forward to riding with everybody again soon!

I'm home, 296 miles for the day. That wind was really something, great ride though. I have lots of pics of empty roads.... uploading now... Great to see old friends, and new ones!

Chuck said that their house is 20 miles from mine, so that puts Tortuga at 340.

I double checked the Edom GPS track from your house back to ours and it was a smidge over 25 miles, so about 350 for Susan. She definitely enjoyed riding with you, Janet. :thumb:

Leanin' Ladies Lunch

I rode solo to Madisonville, almost stayed in bed, but glad I didn't.

I was running a little early, so I took a backroads detour in search of dirt. These horses were interested in the Wee:

There's some dirt roads northeast of College Station that cross the Navasota River, so that's where I headed:

I thought of Squeaky as I crossed a wooden bridge, she just loves these bridges with no guardrails :lol2: :

Re: Ladies Only - 11/30/08

Home. I split from Mollie and Lilia up on 249 and took the tollway, so they should be getting home soon as well. Seems I bit off a little more than I could chew for the after-lunch route, but with some butchering it should hve most of us home before midnight

I have pics to go through, but I have to unwind a little first. That wind sure was something!

Got a message from Miranda that Justine was already feeling a little better by the time their ride showed up. I guess all those assorted meds finally started relieving the pressure. For those that weren't there, the short version: Justine had a low-speed drop on the shoulder on our way up to lunch and she hit her (helmeted) head hard enough to really ring her bell. A bad migraine crept up on her so she and Miranda opted to play it safe and get someone to meet them at the restaurant and truck her and the bike home. I'm sure she'll add her input when she gets a good nap.

Re: Leanin' Ladies Lunch

The DFW-area twosome arrived at the restaurant around 11, I got there at 11:40, and the Houston gang showed up around 12:30. Let's eat! :eat: :

Justine (sp?) had a little off-road excursion on the way to Madisonville, and wasn't feeling very well. I hope she's feeling better soon. Apparently she's not a member on this site, can you please pass along some good wishes Squeaky?

Re: Leanin' Ladies Lunch

On the way home, I found some more dirt roads near the Navasota River, a little further upstream than earlier in the day. This bridge was about 30 feet above the water. :uhoh:

Guardrails? We don't need no stinkin guardrails!

I've only been in Texas for 5 years, so seeing drill rigs is still a novelty to me:

The Alcoa lignite mine operations near Elgin are expanding in size, causing some detours and closures of the county roads:

Got home at 5:30, Lucy was not impressed at having to spend the day alone:

She forgave me though:

It was great to see everyone! Can't wait for the next one!

Great photos everyone!!! I was so kicking myself when I realized I left ,y camera, especially since I haven't seen the color in the leaves in the trees turning so nicely in a while on these parts!

I've got to get me a street legal bike.......

I was kind of bummed today riding with my other group, so I cut out early. I thought about you guys a lot of the time. Seems like I wasn't meant to ride a long way since the speedo went out on my V-Star. Last month on my long ride the speedo also went out on my Ninja.
Today was my long maiden voyage with the V-Star and it rides way different than my Ninja; much busier driving, so I'm glad I stayed fairly close. So glad all of you made it home safely. Hope to see more pictures.

I'm home safe and slowly thawing out. I can hear my pillow calling my name and I won't be fighting it much longer. I really enjoyed meeting the other ladies I hadn't met before and look forward to another (less breezy ) Estrogen rally! :sun:

Oh, and apparently my camera decided that it was done with me, so no pics from me. :tears:

Now there some bad news there........

427709187_nZ5Gq-M.jpg

Ummm - us guys all went to Hooters for wings

As I geared up and packed my bags, Jamey got to work checking over the bike. The tire pressure was so low it wasn't registering on the gauge and I was half a quart of oil down.
doh.gif
He even topped off my tank and filled a spare gas can and stowed it in my pannier in case we'd need it.

I met Lilia (StarSapphire) and Mollie (BMWBabe) at West Oaks Mall and we sauntered up to Starbucks together, miraculously only hitting one red light along the way.

Mollie says hi

We met Michelle, Justine, and Miranda there and chatted while sipping our sweet caffeine, then geared up to head north. The bikes were as diverse as the ladies themselves.

We were already running behind schedule, so I opted to cut out a portion of the route that doubled back on itself and instead we high-tailed it for Navasota while getting a few good "warm up" roads underneath us.

After picking up Deb (Snoopster), Jennifer (NinjaPrincess), Cici (ctoons) and Ana (Anaconda) we turned onto 3090 towards Carlos.

Justine wanted to stop and take a pic with a historical marker along the way.

Once in Madisonville, the local traffic impeded our progress as our bellies rumbled. Arriving at the Lakeside Restaurant, we made our way to the table where the Dallas and Austin gals had been waiting on us.

427977198_65j74-M.jpg

We did a few rounds of "My name, my riding experience, and what I do for a living" to get to know each other a little better.

A few ordered off the menu while the rest made a mad dash for the lunch buffet

Justine's migraine was getting worse, so she and Miranda called for a ride back home while we sat around (for a good long while) talking, laughing, and sharing before steeping out into the sun for a group picture.

To make Papa Chuck proud, I went around and tried to get photos of everyone with their steed.

Janet and her FJR - always smiling!

Miranda (Navajib) and her WR - it might look like a small bike, but she makes that baby sing

Susan (Tortuga) and her Piaggio MP3 - from from Chuck but still in good hands

Claire (Bobcat) all the way from Austin - gettin' dirty this side of the 'Sota

Bye Janet! It was great seeing you again!

Those that continued the route refueled and headed east, but with the late hour I started adapting on-the-fly and cutting off sections of twisty bits. I took the group down a poorly paved road (it was paved though) and turned onto an FM that eventually wound its way to a PAVEMENT ENDS sign. Ok, so I didn't get through the day without a U-turn. but to my credit, I didn't make the street bikes folow me down the dirt path either!
lol2.gif

We split off in Trinity, then split again in Huntsville (after the loooooongest fuel stop I've ever experienced) and once more near Tomball. Once solo, I aimed for the Tollway and was home by 7:30. Cold, sore, and tired - but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat for the companionship alone.

I made it home around 8:15 but to be perfectly honest..I have no built-in sense of direction and probably could have been home 30 minutes earlier without the wackadoo gps tricks. I did bring my camera..so I'll put the best ones in a little later, but I wanted to jump in and echo the sentiments of the ride.

Great to meet the new to me people and wonderful to see friends already made. I don't mind the long hours in the seat and found out that 4 layers was perfectly comfortable.

Special thanks to Squeaky for the fun route and the great job of leading and planning....and congrats to StarSapphire for doing so well with less than lovely riding conditions..woot! I had an awesome time...count me for the next one!!

Re: Leanin' Ladies Lunch

Oh man, my eyes are tearing up over here. That's freakin awesome. I probably would have dropped the bike from laughing so hard.

Nice report(s) and pics, ladies... sounds like a good ride was had by all.
