2017 Around the Bend

I wasn't expecting to attend the rally this year but the stars aligned and at the last minute Connie and I were able to get time off work. Woo Hoo, Big Bend, here we come.

On Friday, three of us did some of the roads on Terlingua Ranch, including Old Marathon, which is always a sandy good time.

This building is known as the Hilton. It used to have a sign in front of it that said "Hilton", hence the name. The sign is gone but the building is still there.

The weather on Saturday was perfect for riding in the national park. Nick, Mark, Bob, and I decided to ride a counter-clockwise loop consisting of Old Maverick, River Road, Black Gap, and Glenn Springs.

High winds the previous two days had put a lot of dust in the air. Luckily, the wind mostly died down today and the dust settled out of air, provided nice views of the distant mountains.

If these three ever start a band, I vote they use this photo as the cover of their first album. :)

Connie says "I love Terlingua this much!" A sentiment we can all agree with.

A big "Thank you" to all the staff at the Big Bend Resort for working on a Saturday evening.

Sure hope you get better soon JQ-1. Buy you really gotta consider not showing us quite so often what a tough guy you are. It gives the rest of us mere mortal wimps a complex. Could you please try to take it a little easier on us in the future!

Had a really great time on this trip! First time at Big Bend and riding "Around The Bend". Couldn't ask for anything more. I had to go straight to work from this trip and have not processed all of my pictures yet but here area few:

Thanks for having me! Everyone I met was just great and I'm already looking forward to riding with some of these guys again in June on the CDR trip.

Bob Linder, thanks for taking this picture of Richard, I love it! He's always the one behind the camera so I was so happy to see this.
