)n Google Maps what are all those white caliche pads with equipment on them surrounding El Oso? Oil field , natural gas ? Just curious.
Yes I've always found that quite interesting. You can follow the ancient Shoreline of the Eagle Ford shale just by noting those caliche pad works on the satellite pictures

Took a spin back roads from Thorndale to Temple today. Sunshine road to county line road to cr101 (Bell to Milam county). Lot of twistys, is one of my favorite near North of Holland to south of Rogers. Picture of Rogers sign looks like one water tower on top of another. Crossed Little river twice. Had to wait on the long slow train, wrote a song about it while waiting. I forget the words though.

We were riding in the same area. Next time you ride Alcoa area let me know and maybe ride with you all. You are brave riding big bikes in that area, once past the tunnel.. The roads have really deteriorated since the plant closed.
The roads were pretty good, how long has the plant been closed and what are they doing with it now as I see vehicles around the entrance and a ups coming out of the gate.

Bitcoin built out there and this week Winstone broke ground and is opening in phases a huge data center, Says 200 employees eventually. The huge electric grid is desirable for these companies. There is a 6000 acre solar farm in the works in Milam county as well. Plus another smaller one. Alcoa has been closed several years and Luminant stopped generating electricity a couple years ago. Milam county has a lot of people moving in :-(. I didn't move far enough out. Did you notice the conveyor is gone when you went under it. Mr. Peabody's coal train done hauled it away.

Yes we noticed missing conveyor

I heard, like the old coal boilers it went to Mexico. We could hear the conveyor on still nights from my home. Not far as the crow flies. Lignite and coal are not popular with alot of people these days. It hurt Milam County's tax base when they up rooted. Course the new ventures are tax abated. But they bring jobs and taxes. Yell sometimes and we will ride Sunshine Road loop and eat at Oscar Store YuM!!! I'm retired and like weekday rides.

We rode Wednesday from Cleburne to Glen Rose and back along country roads. Real pretty day. Old bridge near Cleburne state park.

Had to stop at the DPS in George West for a minute. Look how they added a law enforcement jail building to the back of the beautiful Courthouse back in the 60' or 70's. They have a new law enforcement center now, they need to wreck this monstrosity and Rehab the courthouse.

We clocked a 145 mile day ride yesterday. Mesquite to Combine, up to Crandall, down 148 to the Indian Oaks golf course near Peeltown we both used to play. Kemp for lunch and back 148 to Crandall and 175. Nice little ride on the Sl350 and Rick's Yamaha Xmax scoot.

Didn't keep track of mileage. But had to go down to Victoria for Thanksgiving. Left work in floresville around 11a.(had a half day). Took 181-81-2724-627-81-2773-simson ranch/sa butler/pokluda rd-2655-952-72-237-236-reineke-lower mission vally rd-447-87

Was nice until the fuel pump in the strom started cutting out... have to diagnose that.

Sounds like a nice ride. Were you by chance low on fuel when it cut out? Mine did that and i shook tank and got to station. It never did it after fill up and I should have had a quart of gas left when it started acting up. Hope it is a simple thing for you.
