Post your Day Rides Here!

Went to Sterling Ranch today for some single-track fun and the trails were perfect. Scott from Cycle Shack brought a trailer full of Huskys and KTM’s to demo ride. I’ve been wanting to try a new 250 SX or TC (two stroke motocrosser).

So I got to ride a new TC 250 and several 4 strokes. I must say I’m somewhat smitten by that TC 250, but I doubt I’ll be replacing my trusty 300 with one.

Did that sound convincing...

So, are they open all the time now ? Excuse my ignorance if it's been discussed before.

As far as I know Sterling Ranch is open daily unless they've had a lot of rain, so call before you make the trip. 713-502-7356

Cool. I might go tomorrow then. I'm off fridays so I think I'll start going there those days .

So the weather on Black Friday was less than ideal, but we had fun anyway. Today the weather was PERFECT!! :dude:

I rolled out just before 1:00pm and headed North, not a direction I generally go when I am just headed out for a few hours, but I was in the mood for something different. Different usually means sand when I head that direction and today did not disappoint. In the summer time, these roads can be quite challenging because the sand gets deep and loose! Today, it was just perfect... packed when it needed to be, loose in places where it was fun to play, and no mud. It was all clear blue skies and about 60-65 F with a mild breeze. There were a LOT of leaves and pine needles on the less traveled roads that could occasionally hide nasty pot holes

Nice ride. Any chance of a screen shot of the route? I’m GPS impaired

Click the GPX Viewer button. It should open a window showing the route on a google map. You can zoom in for details. Be warned though, if this route is dry, the sand can get pretty nasty even on a small bike.

Not working on either my iPhone or iPad. I’ll actually have to use my PC. Oh the humidity.

As Earest P. Worell once said “Well there’s your problem Vern”. Tapatalk doesn’t like gpx files. Used the browser and the map popped right up.

Road dirt backroads down to Kenedy for a Dr. appt. this morning. Temperature was about 37 when I left but the day was going to be great so I dressed light. The intake nurse questioned my sanity when my body temp was only 95. She even came back before I left to make sure it had gone up to normal.

@StromXTc is back on 2 wheels and wanted to meet up for a ride so I told him to meet me at the hospital. It seemed appropriate since this is the same hospital where our last ride ended.

We headed over to Yorktown to see the haunted insane asylum but it’s all fenced off nowadays.

Then made our way though Cuero and then Yoakum where Brian showed me how to handle cows without breaking A foot.

We had a very good lunch at La Terrazas in Yoakum before heading north to Shiner.

Nothing goes better with Mexican food than a cold beer so Brian made the decision to go straight to the factory for a free one.

By the way, not free anymore unless your a 1st responder or a preacher.

Then made our way to Gonzalez to see if @JMZ was home and wanted to ride. No luck there.

We parted ways in Nixon and headed for the house. Great day for a ride and good to see Brian back out on the road. Maybe he will post a few good pics.

edit. Forgot the best picture of all taken in Shiner. I have a passion for churches...

Catholic Church in Shiner . The United Methodist Church was next door but the hands-down winner goes the Catholics. ⤵

I had the Shiner premium. They said it was their original beer. Check the tour schedule the times were 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. we missed them both.
