Post your Day Rides Here!

My first ride on one of those orange motorcycles. Had a blast! Thanks BB for the invite, and the loaner.

Got out for another lil day ride with Brian. I told him I’m not going to the valley it’s too hot and your trying to kill me. Fine, let’s go north. Met up in Pleasanton and headed to Bandera where the cows used to be quite a bit bigger.

Then we kept going to Ingram to see Stonehenge

now it’s starting to get warm but Brian assures me it’s hotter in the Valley. We make our way to Harper and stop for lunch and a Tea with crushed ice. (The best kinda ice)

A stop in Mason to see the old jail.

Now it’s just plain hot but we push on like brain dead heat stroke victims to the center of Texas. Brian manages to find the only public deer stand in the state. Or maybe its:shrug:

Officially broiling we make our way back to Brady and find the old jail and courthouse.

:giveup:Too hot, I don’t want to play anymore. Over night in Brady and try again tomorrow.

Up early to beat the heat and get home where it’s normal heat. Down to Menard where the only open place to eat conveniently sells the best tacos in town.

263990

Lotsa neat things to see in Menard which is probably not on anyone’s travel radar. One of which is the Presidio de San Saba.

Got gas in junction tx

Then went to Uvalde tx and found BBQ sandwiches ,able to sit in dine. Hope I didn't catch the Corona, wait and see. Took 140 back to Charlotte and campbellton Texas (true brush country)

Finally got more gas in pearsall Texas (lots of gas stations over the last 2 days 635 miles for me)

Made it to campbellton Texas and went in a gas station and had cooling drinks and went our separate ways, found this Australian Shepherd and I had to take a picture of. It's owner said it didn't miss many mealtimes and I told its owner, neither did I.

He gave me a quick growl he wanted to get back in that cool pickup truck

Sometimes it IS about the destination. Chuck and took off for the Hill Country Tuesday, not so much for the riding but just to get out of the house. We have both had projects that have kept us busy, but confinement isn't a natural condition. It was hotter than Hades on the trip out. Saw 101 on the bike reading.

Didn't take many pictures, but the enjoyment wasn't derived from the photo opportunity ...

After it cooled down a bit, we began waiting on the International Space Station to pass over.

We missed a turn on the way back, and ended up on a back road where we saw these strange looking horses.

That's about it. No pictures of anything else. Three days in the hill country but no pictures of bikes or roads or just about anything else.

Where abouts is that ^^^

Near Iran, Texas...where they call the local mayor The Shah.

:lol2:

....the small town was a was an early boom town, and developed quickly after the discovery of the gigantic Yates Oil Field. It was named for Ira and Ann Yates, owners of the ranch land upon which the town was built according to Wiki.

Well, I needed to physically go to work today (geez, they ask a lot of me) and it was so nice out that I took the bike.

Once done with the hour or two of things I had to address (IT stuff) I meandered back home. It is a 25 mile ride each way, but somehow it took almost 60 miles to get back home. (not inclusive of the 25 to get to work) Must have been a space warp, or time warp, or something.

I do remember stopping and having a bacon cheeseburger and a few refills of tea at some point. :eat:

Was also able to avoid riding on those nasty roads with all the graffiti (center stripe) and cars on them, and even found myself on many miles of gravel at times. :rider:

Anyway, this pandemic is just awful , ... and I may just have to do this more often. ;-)

A few of us rode out to Round Top for lunch. There was supposed to be a pop-up Antique Show that @CThrall just could not miss. :) We looked for it, but it apparently is was a bad kernel and failed to pop. So we made up for it by having burgers, CFS or chicken and then some pie and ice cream afterwards. Good ride, none the less. Steak tomorrow at Murphy's in Winchester.

Chuck and Tom (@LTCTPU) preparing to leave.

Ninja Jeff (@jmn)! Rumor has it that no one has ever gotten a clear picture of Ninja Jeff! He just shows up mysteriously and leaves the same way.
