He hit that deer so hard it popped his eyeballs out. Yuck!
They told me that it was still alive and someone went over and shot it to put it out of it's misery.

Sander, this is always a great ride, hopefully we didn't po Castroville parks and recreation too much 😆

I made it worse by talking to her, I have that talent. All other Castrovillians were happy you visited. Sammy's was very accommodating with parking behind their building, they even told Gina where the video cams were for extra protection.

It's not like we were dealing drugs, like at the Hondo Shell. Just to the left of this picture.

Sander, Sammy’s was very accommodating; when I asked if we could leave truck and trailer there, was told to park near the wall at the back bc there are cameras there and they could keep an eye on it. ❤️

Sure hope Kenny is doing alright. Looks like his helmet and crash bars really took a beating. (As well as the deer.)

I just spoke to Harold and Kenny driving back to Houston.

Kenny was discharged around 1130p last night. Concussion and broken collarbone.

Kenny sounded great, very upbeat and thankful. Said the Yancy fire department & EMTs were fantastic as well as the hospital staff. He's ready to heal fast to get back to riding.

He said the T7 was scratched, bent handlebars but in pretty decent shape considering a deer hit him on pavement about 65. Yes, the deer HIT him. There is deer hair embedded between the tire and rim.

Another testimate to ATGATT. And being TOUGH!

After we lost our leaders JT and Gina (due to mechanical failure), the DRs soldiered on. Big thanks to Sander for all his efforts. Hope you find a painless fix for your bike Gina.

That's very good news! Gear worked. Heal up fast young man.

Really enjoyed first half of the 200 mile route.
After lunch stop at Hermann Sons Steakhouse in Hondo, JT checked my oil, looked milky. Coolant is low. Dang it, my ride is done.
Very luckily, one of our group, DLDR (Doug)’s brother was in the area and had joined us for the meal. Brother Mark had ramps and tie downs and so was easy to give Beastie Boy the ride of shame back JT’s truck.

Huge thanks to Mark. So glad you were there!

Sander, really enjoyed the portion of the rt I did. You found some cool roads for us.
On the 701? Any idea yet what's up?

Gina please keep us updated on what happened to your bike. You know how I want to learn about mechanical issues.
Now that Christmas shipping rush is over I hope you fill us in on your land development.

I am so glad to hear Kenny is on the mend and the hospital released him.
The deer hitting him makes sense now as the front of his bike looked OK. I was scratching my head trying to figure that one out.

I was wondering how that played out after we left :)
I noticed the barriers were up when we returned so someone notified the city roads to put them up .

Sander, as you mentioned, how many breakfast plates on average price were sold yesterday morning at Sammy's cafe and how much extra sales tax revenue did the city of castroville recognize for the two hours that we parked there before the the museum was even open.

People are losing their minds these days.

I guess we are undesirable

Guessing someone wasn't happy with motorcycles? All ears, lol.

Brian talking about hit one of the big puddles on one on the two roads that crosses Hondo creek.

Crossed it square in the center. Might have hit it at 25mph (+/-) (totally didn't see). Water jet hit my right boot and knocked it off the peg. Fortunately it had a smooth Rocky bottom. It spooked 😳 me a little. Just had to commit and ride it through. As they say, Adventure riding!

I guess the mechanical might be a new thread.

I should resurrect the land thread.

I noticed the barriers were up when we returned so someone notified the city roads to put them up .

I have noticed they usually have the barriers up after-hours. And they do have signs, BUT it is about attracting visitors...

Some people, well one person couldn't see past the sign verbiage vs overall goal. I had a few bosses like that.

At least she didn't call "Barney"...

I'll talk to the chamber of commerce new year, or just work with Sammy's.

Who would have thought thought this would have been an issue after all these years, maybe it's not, Sammy seems to be accommodating thankfully. I a few of us also went in inside after the ride and got some to go ☕ as a parking thanks to Sammy's cafe. Ps, I've eaten their regular fare and the quality was excellent.

I get it now. I am a just a dumb old Aggie and a little slow. I see the barricades in the pic you took above.
So some lady came out and said ?
Fill us in more please Sander.
I slept in that parking lot and in the morning I drove to Walmart to use the restroom and after seeing Steinbach's new signs saying visitors and employees only I decided to leave my Tahoe and trailer at Walmart. Glad I did. When I parked in Steinbach's parking lot around 10pm Friday night a policeman sat in his car facing me over on the road behind Sammy's and sat there facing me for about 5 minutes. I don't know if he was doing radio work or trying to decide if he should run me off.
