Post your Day Rides Here!

Snow still pretty this morning but will be gone soon, so I headed out and rode a local neighborhood that borders the lake, rode some corp line, and took a private entrance back up to another road that I thought was public. Honest mistake, I’ll stay off that in the future…
1) picture of our sidelot, covered and lovely!
2) looking across Shaddox branch west arm of Beaver Lake
3) had to push the bike around a holler to get back to rideable ground.
4) water break and as furthest west as I could ride up that west branch corp land shoreline. Gets too steep and rough after this…
5) compass snapshot, wind was in my face so should warm some this afternoon, by Tuesday most of the show will be gone…
I rode/pushed 3.5-4 miles today…
Im so thankful to live in Arkansas….

Was able to explore the SE side of Beaver this afternoon on Kowalski. Old bike ran beautifully, but shore needs a bath!

Another trip to Eureka springs and south looking at and showing land.
maybe 150 miles today.
I stopped by the lovely Wilderness Rider Buffalo Ranch and took the first two pictures there by the office. Donny was not around, and I did not want to bother him just to say HI. What a beautiful place on top of that mountain!!
pic3) Lunch break in Madison county. 🌞
route, 12 to PT to 127 to 412 to 21 through Kingston, then 3260/9 past the Ranch then 3260/3265 back to 21, north to Berryville 62 to Eureka and points beyond.

Oh, my god, Becky! It was so beautiful out today.
A dozen of the BMWDFW crew rolled down to Tolar TX to visit the Windmill Farm.
Then down infamous FM-51 (the fun part has been repaved!) to Glen Rose TX and Hammonds BBQ for lunch.
Did I say it's JANUARY!!!!!

First ride !!!
Well, actually, first ride in 20 years!!!
One more try, first ride in 20 years that didn't involve a terrifying trek across DFW during rush hour on a Tuesday to pick up a bike!!!

So let's call it the first fun ride in 20 years. Took a little trip from Midlo to Meridian. Fun was had, no tears shed. About 5 hours with a nice lunch at the Cactus Grill.

Bike (Tiger 800 XRx) did great. I did fair to middlin'. Still trying to get my sea legs on the low speed maneuvers (U-turns mostly). But, hey, who needs u-turns? The world is round, folks. Turn right enough times and you will eventually get somewhere.

I did a little equipment testing while I was out. The generic bluetooth helmet thingy (BT-S3) worked fine as long as you stayed under 65 mph. It has an annoying "auto-answer" feature, so I turned off the phone option in the blue tooth setting on my phone. I'm out here trying to escape from the phone! I also tried some el-cheapo bluetooth air pods. Sounded the same as the BT-S3, but you can't pause music or skip without digging out your phone. And they go flying out of my ears when I take off my helmet. I'll stick with the BT-S3 for now. Should be much better when the Madstad shows up on Tuesday, bike doesn't have a wind screen currently.

Also found a very annoying seam on the inside right thumb of my gloves. Only noticeable if you are doing something crazy, like riding a motorcycle. I think they are Sedici from cycle gear.

Also tried some new boots from Indie Ridge. Worked great, but I had to stop a few times to get my shifter adjusted where I want it. I wore the boots at work yesterday to try them out. They are crazy hot, no venting at all. They felt great on the ride today, with temperatures from 50 to 70, but I will probably pick up some ventilated touring-style boots for the summer.

I used my old Garmin 2597. Couldn't really see it after noon, I'm going to ponder a different mounting spot.

It was nice to rip around some of the roads I used to rip around in my youth, although I think some of the roads in Ellis county haven't been resurfaced since the last time I was on them.

I didn't take any photos because I'm not really about that unless I see something amazing, which didn't happen between Midlothian and Meridian. Here's a map instead. The stretch from Rio Vista to Meridian was ruler straight and posted at 75 mph. The only redeeming feature was the section with 3 big dead ferals on the side of the road. Someone had a bad day. Next time, I'll route through Blum and Whitney and skip 174.

Got out for a ride today. Last one was Dec 3rd. I had an inner ear thing going on starting in early Dec and that was causing some balance issues. seems to have finally resolved. Then our daughter and 2 of our grandkids were here from Dec9 to Dec 29 so was busy with them. Today was just to nice to pass up so after church and taking down some Christmas lights decided to go for a ride. Nothing special just a loop I have ridden before, but I did find a gravel road I had somehow missed on previous rides. Was not to long but nice views.

Then was going by the Fannin Battlefield State Historic Site so swung in and grabbed a quick photo. The wife and I have been going to go snoop around there sometime but have not made it yet.

As I got close to home decided to run through a small county park a few miles from us.

Overall a good ride and nice to get out. Just a little over 100 miles.

Missed the Pie Run yesterday to go watch my son play as Texas St. Beat UT-A. So with today's beautiful weather and temperature I had to get out! Solo ride, but saw tons of other bikers and stopped to talk with a group at a gas station. Anyway, went from Sienna to Richmond to Fulshear, Simonton to Brookshire and then looped back home.

Are we allowed to post w/o pics?

Lunch at Drifter's then I ran up & down 149 several times, what a beautiful day to be alive & ride! My arm got tired from waving to all the other riders. :thumb:

On 2nd thought, the below pic was taken at Drifter's on 12/31/21; for those unfamiliar, the bikes & icehouse are behind me. That day was not particularly busy and the driver seemed to be wandering around trying to strike up a conversation with anyone willing.

Today the place was as busy as I've seen; 40, maybe 50 bikes. He parked in the same place but set up 2 folding chairs and a card table behind the coffin trailer and sat there, alone. Does anyone know this guy or what he's about?

Interesting.....if you find out the story, please let us know. Did he actually have cards on the card table?

I am too but no doubt he's harmless since the owner let's him hang out.

I haven't been there since 12/31/21 but they remembered me and my order nuances.

CRAP! Maybe the owner is nutso! :D

Example of the note cards that I make and use to guide my day rides. I was asked about these.
😊☕
