Im up in Fraser Colorado ridin the area for a few days with a friend. The weather is justa bout perfect....lows round 30°..highs in the 60s- 70s.
Aspens are peaking in color. We've been on a couple of gravel roads already & still way more skinny pavement to come. No long days of ridin....jus a leisurely meander mostly.

Let me backtrack a bit to Thursday in the Texas panhandle.....

Today the temp was 34° so we waited a while before leavin to ride.....but it didnt slow down heddn for brkfst at Sharkeys Eatery. The tiny place was packed inside so we took a table in the sun outside....but moved to the bar first chance we got. The corned beef hash n eggs w/pancakes (&warm syrup) was really tasty....if a bit pricy at $15 apiece

Time to ride...
Corona Pass Rd....recommended by the guy at the bar eatin wnen we came in.
Ive never ridden any gravel much up here in CO. Dodging some pretty deep potholes (I swear there was a dippin pail on a rope in one)

After Corona Pass Rd....we took Devils Thumb Rec Area & Devils Thumb Ranch Rds. The rec area was gravel & had a steep climb....but no potholes.
The Ranch Rd was nice smooth pavement winding thru the valley to the resort & cabins. Horseback riding....spa...the works. Not in my pocketbooks reach tho

But Debbies Diner in Granby was. Tasty double burger w carmelized onions n veggies
Country fries w cheeze carmelized onions & groovy sauce
Good prices compared to Fraser & Winter Park

Talk about a long day of ridin....whew!?!
Its 8pm & we jus got back
315 miles....of Colorado twisties
Sorry....no pics today. We woulda never made it back to the condo.
A quick snack stop had to suffice for lunch.
Ft Collins is still as trafficky as ever....light after light on 287. Thankfully timed for flow in most places.
34 west to Estes Park was mostly nice since the afternoon car conga line was hedded east.
CO 7 72 & 119 were far less crowded.
Cant say the same for Blackhawk & Central City. Wheres that turn???
The CC Pkwy (after you find it) is a 4 lane freeway back down the mountains to I70 & Idaho Springs.
Hwy 40 had the car conga hedded south.

The Dairy King in Empire was packed so we went on to Winter Park & stopped for lunch (supper) jus before Rudi's deli closed for the evenin. The turky chili was jus the ticket for a couple o cold Texans.
Yeah...I kno...turkey...I dont care...it was dang good!

I absolutely L O V E Mondays.....!?

Went out to hop in truck & hed for brkfst at Wake N Bacon......
Turn key....click...dead battery
No charger at condo...neighbor can help jump but not rite now.
My bikes jumper cables on Matts bike running at a higher idle to charge truck
15-20 min later...disconnect &..click

OReillys in Granby 15min away... $200+ for a new battery. Oh Well
So I send Matt on my bike with old battery in his trunk. (Did I mention his bike overheated while sitting running....hope its ok)
He's pullin outta the parkin lot...turns round & sez.....whats this FI on the instrument panel?? I kno what it is...seen it before. I turn the engine off...wait a few secs...then start again....no FI code....
Hopefully the only time that happens....

New battery & an alternator check from ORiellys....trucks runnin fine

Breakfast at 12:30 finally. Huge omlette & hash browns with an equally huge biscuit
Habanero & ccandied bacon..pork belly mushrooms...etc. Sorry..no pic

Todays brkfst brought to you (us) by the good folks at Carvers Bakery Cafe in Wntr Pk. The strip of bacon was thicker than the sliver of ham...but both were tasty. The jalapeno ched biscuit came bac to the condo with me....jus too much to finish.
Grand County 50 runs all the way from Fraser up to jus west of Hot Sulpher Springs on 40...but we didnt take it.

Gassed up in Steamboat with a quik snack & then a wrong turn took us on a town tour. Finally finding our way outta Steamboat...it was bac down 40 for justa bit....& then CO131

One of the bestest lil roads was Routt County 14 jus south of Steamboat Sprgs. A really nice flowing ribbon of asphalt you bet. Wish it was longer.

CO131 was a bit more trafficky...but still had sights like Finger Rock. I didnt put it in the middle of the pic!!
Lots o color in the trees. Jus smashing!
We hit the timing for the Fall peak jus rite.
We didnt hav the time to continue down the best part of 131 to I70....or time to stop by & say hi to the Butler Map folks in Eagle. Instead we took CO134 east bac to 40 & Kremmling...Granby for a late aftrnoon meal at Mavericks Grille
A few sprinkles today...but nuthin soaking.

I almost forgot to mention.....due to erratic readings on the alternator guage in the truck...we stopped back at OReillys in Granby for a rebuilt alternator to take along with us.....jus in case

Tomorro will prob be the last longer riding before heddn for home Friday
Thurs will be some more local Fraser exploration & loading up.

103 does get kinda chilly at altitude...
