saw a neat little church:

Shiloh Baptist Church – Location: FM 185 and Shiloh Church Road; Crawford

On May 17, 1884, five people gathered in Bellview Schoolhouse to organize Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The congregation initially met only once a month, with meetings lasting two or three days. Most of the early pastoral leadership came from among the membership. The church has always been located along Hog Creek, meeting for a time in a brush arbor at Blue Hole. Many baptisms were held in the creek. The congregation took its present name in 1890 and moved to this location in 1892. The Sunday school program was started that year. (1984)

Glad you made it home safe. After all the deer incidences and near misses I was worried about you riding home at night.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Please pray for Dahveed-he's still in ICU with lung problems and all ribs broken on one side after deer incident.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

For those who were not at Roll The Bones Rally, Dahveed was involved in a wreck with another bike while trying avoid a deer. Dahveed was careflighted to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He has NO family in the area to come see him or check on him. He broke every rib on the left side and cannot manage to breath enough to keep his lung inflated so he has a breathing machine on him. He will recover in time, but for the short term I hope as many of the local ADVers and TWT riders swing by Scott and White. He is allowed visitors and it is room 216. While I was there Mr2Mch stopped by to compare notes on injuries and has declared that Dahveed has him beat Not sure how many ribs Mr2Mch broke but I think it was 5. If you live anywhere around the Temple Waco area try to stop in and encourage Dahveed I mean ain't we FAMILY I am trying to get an update on the other rider that went down with Dahveed now...I believe he just broke his wrist.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Don't forget about the two other riders that went down too. One on Friday evening hit a deer and broke his arm and injured his shoulder. The other, Les, was involved in the deer incident with Dahveed and has a badly broken wrist. I talked with Les this evening when he called to check it I knew Dahveed's condition. Les is getting screws and pins on Tuesday. Keep all three of them in your prayers for quick healing.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Most enjoyable rally. Great to see familiar friends again and meet new folks too. Looking forward to next year.

Hope the wounded heal up quick.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Absolutely. Thanks for the update on Les, Rusty. I was on the phone with Ghost right before I checked here and Ghost didn't have any contact info on Les. Thanks for posting. Codyy is keeping us updated on Adam (the rider who went down Friday).

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Now, aside the from deer issues (and a couple of cagers drifting wide on dirt roads), it sounded like everybody had a good time. The facility there was great. I wish I'd have camped on the back side where Hardy Baker and Cagiva Dave were though. I tend to head to bed early and where most of us camped the music from the cantina could be hear clearly.

Food was good at the banquet, and I hear the hotel was very nice. I like the cold, so the weather was even good by my standards. Cheap beer on Saturday was a nice way to finish off a long day standing on the side of the road...but I made up for it on the way home on Sunday. Andy and I swung over and hit the Regency Suspension bridge and go BBQ in San Saba before run hwy 16 into Llano before we split up. GSA did just fine on the mostly rocky road to the bridge. Only a little bit of sand and now I know what that feels like.

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Hi all, just wanted to add my thanks to everyone for putting the trip together. It was really great getting to meet the folks, especially those who put up with a newer rider on Friday (Slowoldguy, TXJames, Kyle and Joe).

I hope everyone heals up quickly and gets back to riding :)
Dave

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

I enjoyed our time together, Dave. You've got a whole boatload of "want to" and "guts". And now you got a bunch of stories to tell about the crazy places we took you Friday on your "warm-up" ride (Sorry, man ), and that's always good.:rider:

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

No apologies needed, I'm just glad you included me along for some awesome riding. I did slow down a bit Saturday, since I didn't want to put Tiffany through the same paces though (since she has even less time on dirt than I do). Looking forward to getting some more time in to learn to use that back brake, now that I have the bike modified for dirt ;)
I can say Friday did a great job of warming me up ;)
Dave

Re: TEXAS ADVriders-ROLL THE BONES RALLY - Oct 29-31

Sprocket of Motoadventure turned Roll the Bones into a farkle fest for many lucky riders including Stingray and his NEW bike!

Now, let's get dirty...

Went out to explore along the loops and bends of the Colorado river. If you've picked up any of Dobie's books you'll recognize this area as the region of lost Spanish gold and silver mines. Legends abound with tales of buried treasure along this route. Did I run across any? Coronado's secret is still safe for the ages. :trust:

The legendary San Saba double ford of the Colorado river...now with D606 tracks installed. :dude:

Wildlife tally for Saturday:
4 bucks (one would do well in B&C points)
dozens of does and little ones
2 turkeys
1 fox
2 lost dual sporters without a map :-P

Re: 2010 Roll the Bones Rally - AAR

What a great event! GhostRider and his other friends did an awesome job, so all we had to do was show up and ride! An excellent venue for hosting all the dual sport bikes.

A spooky, and for some truly gory, time for all!

I have a ride report here if your interested. It contains a few dirty words so if your a sensitive metro-sexual type, enter at your own risk. thanks!
