I'm here as well with my son. Pulled into Spruce cabins about 30 minutes ago. Will see you at dinner in about 1 hour.

Wow, 58 degrees at 8668 feet. Have fun you all !

WIKI:
Cloudcroft is a village in Otero County, New Mexico, and is within the Lincoln National Forest. The population was 674 at the 2010 census. Despite being located in an otherwise arid region, its extremely high elevation (8,600 feet (2,600 m); one of the highest in the U.S.) allows for a relatively mild summer that makes it a popular tourist attraction in West Texas and New Mexico. It was named by Fodor's in 2002 as the Number 3 "Most Overlooked and Underrated Destination Spot."[2] Tourism remains the primary economic driver of the village.

Man, it looks new. Even with the Hocus Pocus Husqvarna treatment :thumb: :thumb: This dog will hunt.

Makes the yahama (125cc?) Look like a baby

Wish I could ride this week, but ended up having to work. I did go out towards Sunspot yesterday and took Forest Road 223, and got caught in a thunderstorm. Then I took a wrong turn and ended up going downhill on a muddy road - slicker than snot on a door knob! No traction for tires or feet. And of course I was by myself, no cell service, no one around, with a 500 pound bike. But one hour and many 500 pound deadlifts later I made it 100 yards back up the hill to the gravel road. All part of the adventure! But those wet trails are deceiving, so be careful.

Day one was a blast and the highlight for me was this view. Thanks again for the help with the flat and for taking Ryan riding in the morning. He’s already talking about doing this ride every year!

The unofficial banquet is tonight Friday, August 3th at Ski Cloudcroft.
Unofficial meaning, no host, show up if you want, when you want, of course during their business hours. My group will probably get there between 630 & 7p.

http://skicloudcroft.net/ - "The restaurant is also open for the summer, Friday 4-8 PM.

Just got back to Austin. Thanks again for organizing this ride. It was without a doubt the best week of riding I've had. I highly recommend this ride and we will definitely be back next year.

I'll go first...

Federal jurisdictions, some type of law/ ordinance probably violated other than perjury or leaking classified information.

If we are guessing, Someone said Chinese spying on Whitesands missile range from there. Seeing how it is a University installation, that could easily be infiltrated.

Certainly a plausible Theory. Jim, you could be 100% correct , or not. Not judging you . Sociologically speaking, I think its so interesting how quickly this stuff can take off . No one can resist a good mystery.

Orson Welles War of the Worlds comes to mind

Personally, I think it's the attack of the Solarians

Interesting stuff for sure. Some folks on YouTube have done some pretty decent coverage on the theories.
