While my Yellow Hairy Monster has been an absolute blast, both on the track and on the road, the time has come to unfortunately pass it on.
While its fast, light and incredibly nibble, its riding dynamics and the fact that its a two stroke really keep me from enjoying it or using it as much as my CBR or my other bikes, hence the very low miles and hours.

The Dits:
Its a one owner fully restored and fully street legal 1982 Yamaha YZ250J.
Its 95% original and comes with all records of work ever done.
It also comes with all the original parts that may have been removed plus any spare parts later purchased.
It also includes the original factory service manual.

The bad:
B/c i’m really not a tinkerer or a mechanic type, i’m really reluctant to bother with tackling the seal issue now needing attention:

So because of this its $4100
If I have to fix it will be $5000.
I’m also open to trades for a more street focused 4 stroke.
Its located in NW Houston

Awesome bike with a real seat😲. Looks like the hoses no run through the steering stem. Those motors were so smooth. Yamaha has been on its A-game with the yz250 ever since this motor came out in 1982 until this day.

Well spotted Tom.
Yes the anti freeze was re-routed around the steering stem rather than through it as originally intended.
And yes its an Lightning quick, extremely responsive and super smooth engine.
If it doesn’t sell, i’m sure I will love it in the mountains of New Mexico later this spring.

Fairly sure I observed this bike for a GSS motard track day many moons ago after Andy at Metric had down a little work on it. It was/is beautiful.

GLWS.

If not the same bike, my apologies.

Thank you much Staton.
Yes indeed. Its one and the same bike.
Perfect bike for that perfectly sized moto track.
Just wish its rider was skilled enough to make full use of all of the YZ’s performance though.

I recall you were doing just fine!

We (the lightweight/motard hooligan group) all were admiring your bike. I'm sure it will sell quickly. I'd grab it if I didn't have a few projects finishing up.

Tnx Staton
Ah projects.
Projects = life’s little abstract activities that keep us busier than when we are at work.
Good luck.

The headlight is in front of the radiator and behind the vented number plate underneath the number 1.

Got to get her all fixed up. Parts started trickling in today, I think carb clean, crank seals, oil change, do a little rewiring on some stuff and I am off and running. Probably put a real kick stand on her somewhere.

Should be plenty dangerous.:flip:

That bike is now capable of hurting me. In the old days my IT 465 did not hurt me.
