Hey Peter, money just paypaled and room reserved at Chisos. I'll be with my friend Mike Harney who has a new (to him) GS 1200. Looking forward to it.
+1 - staying at Chisos

I'm at the Chisos as well Dave, looking forward to seeing you out there. I'm bringing the KTM 500 to rip it with Mark Subcomm on Black Gap
Wish me luck.

Best wishes on that. I look forward to hearing the results of your tear down.
Am considering Rancho Topanga campgrounds. Any reviews?

Not sure where Uncle's is located...
There's also a nice fire pit if you remember to bring some firewood from home.
Sounds like the roads may be a little dusty and loose. Oddly, it's rained the last three times I've been in that area.
I am suddenly 50/50 whether or not I'll make it to Big Bend.
I'm not yet sure what happened, but I just did something the equivalent of blowing up my 2002 XR650L's motor. There were loud metal crunching noises and the motor seized while going down the freeway. I only just now got the bike back home in my truck. It went from running perfectly to very sad.

Going CW folks have had to seek out a park ranger and ask what to do.

This is a motor that I myself built and drove for thousands of miles in Mexico, so I can't wait to see what actually happened. I hope to have the motor tore down by this evening and will know more then.
Wish me luck.

Question for the Desert Challenge participants:
Last year we ran Counter Clockwise. This year I had planned to make it counterclockwise, as Richard, I believe, swapped direction each year to spice things up.
