2017 LoneStar Enduro March 4th/5th Kalgary, TX

I've signed up for the Sunday race and requested row 60. Be glad to have some company back there if anyone wants to join in.

Anyone near Beaumont want to travel together. Non smoker and will be motelling it in Post if I can get a room. Yes, I do snore but have an ample supply of free ear plugs. Will travel Sat, ride Sun and hot foot it back Sunday after the race. Immediately after, no waiting for trophies.

We have over 250 pre-entries for Sunday and expect a fair number of sign ups at the race too. So, 300+ riders is a possibility for us for Sunday. It is not too late to join the fun--the more the merrier!

No store-bought trophy for the overall two day winner either. Check out this cool piece:

Well I missed the sign up window but hey, I'm going to race Sunday!

See y'all there, look for the ocker camper Saturday afternoon.

Phillip, we passed you coming in while we were headed out. Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow. We are row 42.

Doggone! Rode the long course. Haven't had a butt woopin like that since 3rd grade. Absolutely awesome ride. The LTR guys put on a first class event... and make it look easy. This one to put on your calendar.

Wow! Fun day. Bike held up great, as for the rider...I'll be sore tomorrow.

Great job Lubbock Trail riders.

Rode the short course and was sure glad to see the end of that 3rd test. Went down hard twice, 1 trail side repair of wide open stuck throttle ( that was really interesting for a little while ), leg cramps and running out of water, but I did finish the SC. May be in line for the D A L award though. I had heard it was a great property and put on by a well organized club and was not disappointed. Tons of fun but I was done at the end. Thanks LTR for a great day.

About what I was thinking. Dead At (finish) Line?

Scott, we should prolly go to sleep!

SC is Short course. Tourmaster got Dead *** Last

this is more appropriate Dead At (finish) Line

I was running the scoring computer at check two and I saw you come through then. I also saw Phillip.

I also ran check 10, which was the long course finish. The last loop (Tom Sawyer) was the loop that the trail crew I was part of worked on every weekend the last two months to be ready for this race. I am pretty sure all the racers got their money's worth on our little 18 mile section. :lol2:

Congrats to RG for stepping up and finishing the long course. His progression on a dirt bike over the few years I have known him is really cool to see.

Also, Ben Spies, former MotoGP star, came out to race the AA class. He posted some solid times though the first few tests but DNF'd. I don't know what happened with him.

Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting our club by attending our event. Seeing 300 happy (but tired) riders motivates us to put on the best event we possibly can!

Also, Ben Spies, former MotoGP star and 2009 World Superbike Champion, came out to race the AA class.

Fixed that for ya! :sun:

I'm a big fan of Ben's, patronize his hamburger joint regularly & would love to meet him.

Once again, it was a great event & a pretty sobering intro to the world of Enduro (what sadist put that rock on the peak of that steep hill climb?). I was amazed at the huge turnout, whole pro teams with all the support kit & crew.

Ha. I know the rock ledge you are talking about I think. The big white hill right near camp with the right hand bend in it. That hill was part of my section and we talked about taking a chisel to it but ended up leaving it. I just stand up and wheelie over it--don't really even think about it. I was watching other riders go up that section and many of them got to that ledge, chopped the throttle and immediately took their feet off the pegs. The results went downhill (pun intended) from there.

The thing about racing enduros is that there is no better method to improve your off road riding skills quickly. I have seen it with newer riders many times. I think it is great that you came out and gave it a try.

That's it. I cleared it in one & was so happy I promptly stalled the bike afterwards!

I certainly learned why people love their Rekluse clutches. Only 1 off (slowly in deep sand), but 3 or 4 stalls.

Yeah, when I ran in TCCRA it was surprising the caliber of riders and support that would show up. Some of the races we would have 600+ riders show up.. Glad you had fun..

Yep, PEA terrain is a lot like LTR and also fun though I have not made one since they moved the start to Turkey. I was planning on going to LTR, but had bought my daughter tickets to see Green day in Dallas for her birthday and the date clashed. I was the escort so I couldn't make this one. From the Pictures, videos, and comments I've read it was a great one. Even when I didn't race I always enjoyed working the trail, working checks, and riding sweep.

Hats off to james queen he is tough and cool senior rider .notice i did not call him old LOL:giveup:good job james .tonyd

Cole Kirkpatrick won the overall event this year. Not too long ago, Cole was a top 5 rider Nationally. Now he is a very good moto journalist. You nay have seen some of his work that has been published in national moto magazines.

I thought this was worth sharing. It has some great photos and some very nice words from Cole.

The former site for the PEA event was the U Lazy S ranch and was always a great run. Sure do miss it.

Back in the 80's when I was heavy into Enduros, Lubbock and Post were about my favorite Enduros, way different terrain than down here in the Sam Houston National Forest. Just curious if you ever heard of Zack and Dan Elkins with the Lubbock Trail Riders. My brother and I competed against them. We pitched in some money when Zack got to go to the ISDE, I think it was Czechoslovakia. Man I miss those days.

Sure I remember Zach. I don't know his whereabouts these days though.

Yes, our terrain is quite different! It really is not like many other places--pretty unique.
