2026 Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas

Did this for me figure may save someone some time. All stops all ALTs added the "example" picture to all stops on map to help me. Is it 100% correct no idea use at your own risk. “trust, but verify.”

thanks used your exel sheet made it much faster that way jmdaniel
If any of you want a tracker for the tour this year, here is mine, in Excel.

Notes:
  • You have to download the file to edit it for your own use, I have editing shut off in Dropbox.
  • The VFW Stop and Lone Star Rider addresses are for me, you'll want to change those. I'm guessing LSR will be at Hill Country Motorheads at some time this year, if not, I'll edit that.
  • I mark the stops I skip in the first column, otherwise I put the Region of Texas or my name of the map there. I'm skipping the PI attorney in Corpus Christi.
  • The yellow shaded stops in Column C are repeats from last year, 15 in total, so 40 new ones. Not bad.
  • Oh, and the usual not responsible for errors, check all addresses, if you crash while doing wheelies, not my fault, blah, blah, blah...

2026 Tour Stops

Last year, my first, only got 6 stops. This year, I decided to man up and already have 26 just a month in. Its certainly a compulsion now to get all 50, maybe the alternates too. Mapping it out and having a plan is essential. Agree the tolls are a drag when riding the bike. In Mexico, you only pay 1/2 what the autos pay at any given toll. Having lots of fun with this. Already lost my flag and had to get a replacement. Stupid move. Thank goodness the rules allow up to 9 stops with a handmade flag as I was only halfway thru a long day of 10 stops.

Looks like Dave has gotten somewhat caught up. Yea, I could have pinged him directly to get my status updated but I'm not in a huge rush. That said, it feels good seeing the star next to my name as finisher. Now I need to work to earn that second star.

I finished up my last 4 stops on the tour today. The beautiful Spring weather this year made completing the tour a joy. I rode 9 days and 3612 miles this year.

I enjoyed checking out all the old General Stores this year. Not sure why but I think Deadmans Hole was my favorite stop this year.

I didn't see any other riders on the tour until my 44th stop at Yorktown Memorial Hospital yesterday. Two ladies on Harleys that told me they were only had 3 stops left. They also told me that after picking up their Flags in Kerrville they took off and made 32 stops.

Until next year...

Looks like my planned trip to Mother Neff State Park will have to be delayed, as next week currently has lots of rain forecast. Will make a final decision on Friday.

Yeah, I am off for 2 weeks, was planning on doing the rest of my stops then. I may just get wet.

I plan on heading up to Dallas Friday, and coming back down through east Texas Saturday. Debating leaving Monday for my "big loop", but will see what weather is looking like.
I will hit 80,000 miles on the bike when I get back from Dallas, so am due for a major service (engine oil and filter, rear diff, brake fluid, spark plugs, air filter, and also need to swap my GT bars for GTL bars and swap the throttle for one with a working heated grip), so if weather looks bad, I may do the service that week, then the trip after that.

I will at minimum do the oil and filter change Sunday if weather is not bad next week.

The weather this week delayed my camping trip to Mother Neff. But Thursday and Friday look good. I am planning on going west on one of those days to pick up 4 sites.

523 miles on Saturday, to pick up three spots, in what I knew would be a boring ride. And it was...

Heads up to anyone doing the PI attorney in Corpus Christi, followed by the Victoria County Courthouse. If you are using a GPS, with a route created ahead of time, the area circled is under construction and looks like the Gaza Strip right now. I mean, Corpus streets normally suck, but they are now even worse in that area.

I am not fond of that region because most of the roads are BORING!

Simmons embarrassed me so much by already being done, before I even started...I decided to get going. Hit 6 stops in the panhandle & west Texas. Added one of my own while I was out there. Too close to skip it... :rider:
