2026 Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas

We picked up early because the sisters are right there and it's easy to grab five stops on the first day. We were lucky because we were in line next to a rider with lots of experience and good riding tips.
Yup, I get that. However, those of us working folks are time limited. I could have pushed the trip to the following weekend, get the flag in the mail and then do the same exact trip but not waste a half a day standing around a crowded hotel when I could be riding. Could be a different story if they started handing them out earlier, like 7 or 8AM.

Only bonus I really saw to the pickup was being able to pick up the lone star rider van as soon as you have the flag in hand.

In addition, I had to pass a bunch of bonus locations on my way down, so that was wasted time too.

Flag arrived in Fort Worth today.

Here’s a tip. Park across the street from Classic Rock Coffee, and take the pic from there. It’s easier than trying to get lined up in front of the coffee shop and dicking with all the traffic.

I have done that the last 3 years, but this year there was a nice open spot as I was getting there, so went ahead and backed in and grabbed my pic.

Left around 8:45 this morning to pick up 4 sites south of where I live. VFW in Poth, Herman and Herman in Corpus Christi, Courthouse in Victoria, and the old Memorial Hospital in Yorktown. Construction in Corpus threw a monkey wrench in my route to Victoria, added about 30 minutes to my route. A serious multi-vehicle crash had shut down both directions of US 77 38 miles west of Victoria. That add another 25 minutes. Lunch in Corpus was at Howard's BBQ - wouldn't have found it if not for the construction. If you find yourself in that city, find this place.

Paved roads near the gulf are mostly boring.

Question for you Riders that have done the Tour is previous years: how do you know if a photo has been rejected by Tour Master? Do they notify you?

The person that took my photo in Bandera got the Flying L Ranch signage and my Flag but did not get a great pic of my bike. I'm wondering if it will get rejected!

They do not notify you - they simply don't count non-compliant photos.

You’ll be fine.

When I didn’t get enough of motorcycle in photo I was contacted . Was told it was counted this time but to get more motorcycle in photo from then on .

In all these years, I’ve never been in any picture, but my bikes always are, fully.

I hear you. My other photos should be fine but while at that stop in Bandera there was a line of bikes and one lady was taking pics for everyone and offered to take mine so that I didn't have to get off the bike. I didn't realize until later that there wasn't a lot of bike in the pic and I could have been on just about any cruiser. If I have to go back to Bandera, it's no biggie :rider:

She charged you?

That pic is fine. He basically wants to make sure your bike is not on a trailer.

So wait, she was wanting money to take the pics? Not cool at all.

Some stops have different places to take the pic.
Flying L is one of them.
This is my pic this year at the entrance, have done it here twice before. Last year I did not because I was further back picking up my flag.

I have never taken a pic with myself in the pic, just the bike and flag.
I would say maybe 1/3 my pics have my entire bike in the image, majority are similar to above with 3/4 to 1/2 my bike in the pic. I have a few close up, but you can tell the bike is not on a trailer.
Of my trip last weekend, this is the closest pic I have.

Well, if yours doesn't count, then it sounds like there's probably a lot of folks in the same boat. I bet it counts.

When does the page usually go up showing how many you have?

The cycle time for posting results varies with how many pix are uploaded. Early on, it takes longer because lots of people get an early jump on the tour. David said they over 2,600 pix so far this year! It will be a couple weeks, if last year was an indicator.

Looking forward to getting out and doing some. I got somebody to pick up my number since I couldn't go that weekend, but I haven't had time anyway. Had tons of fun these past few years with The Tour.
The ride and the people are the fun part for me. Letting someone else find an old manually pumped gas pump, a giant statue of a killer bee, etc, is the icing on the cake.
