POW, glad that wasn't your foot. Nice rig. Too cool...plate, "long distance rider"
At the time of impact my foot was on my regular peg, otherwise yes, that would not have been a good thing.
Yes, the plate is Long Distance Rider. AZ only allows 5 characters on a moto plate so you have to get creative. Unbeknownst to me at the time, ldrdr is Mike Kneebone's forum name on the GL1800riders.com and when I came back to the forum after a long absence I created the forum name LDRDR. Although the only difference is the capitalization, the system accepted it.
What was your expense for this 1 way cc?
I won't figure that out until I get home.
I thought when you took off from that bp, I was like , why the he'll doesnet he stop? Finally occured to me, he's headed to the airport to receive his bride. Haha.
On the way in, I kept wondering to myself why I had to detour to Jacksonville Beach instead of just getting my final receipt in Jacksonville, but it's tradition so I stuck with it and then headed back north to the hotel.
That spot really brings it home for the audience. Do you pay for each ping (transmission)? Can you set the frequency of how often it transmits? After you finished, it was not pinging as often as when you were , in combat it seemed (on ride route).
My tracker is a Garmin inReach and I pay for the 10 min pings. The benefit of the inReach over my old Spot was the fact that I have satellite texting capability now. The brand new SpotX also can text but they released it about 3 months after I made the decision to jump ship.
I also carry a PLB with me on my person so that if I have an "incident" and wind up separated from my bike, as long as my arms aren't broken I can reach in my pocket and activate the beacon.
Another benefit of the inReach is that I can shut off tracking for a month if I won't be doing any riding and you don't pay for that month.
We were willing you to the finish. And it's still raining , a real nice slow rain too down here. Supposed to pick up by weeks end with a 50mph tropical storm for corpus coastal bend area. Sorry to say, looks like it's going to be a disaster with florence on the east coast.
It was fun watching from afar. Better you than me however
Thank you. It was great to have the support. My friend Jason is in Jacksonville at the moment and will be leaving tomorrow morning for the run to SD. I hope the rains aren't too bad for him.
