Who just ordered a new Triumph Speed Twin? This guy!

The fine folks over at D’Moto are taking care of me and will let me know in a few days when it will arrive.

Oh, and MasterCard can bleep dismounted and blankety blank itself with an iron cactus!

I am buying this out of state and over the phone and they locked the card down. I use another and life goes on. While trying to get through their fraud prevention gauntlet of terror, they start asking me “on Jan 4th you bought something for $3.08, where did you make this purchase?

....I get lost on my way to the kitchen in my own home sometimes and I am supposed to remember this? Apparently you get two shots and “**** if I know” counts. Now my card is locked and the level of wicked drudgery that I must now contact for satisfaction is not open until Monday.

Fortunately....the thought of a new Triumph shoothes my most foul and current nefarious intents. :)

Cliff notes....man yells at clouds but is getting a new motorcycle.

Unfortunately, because of my schedule, it may sit in the “shelter” for a while, waiting to be rescued. “Brand new British breed in need of loving home!”

Besides having to listen to me being my chatty self, poor Rick over at D’Moto had to call me back and express “uh, hey Mr. Actor big shot....your card was declined.”

Fortunately for me, he did not say it like that.

I am off for a mind clearing walk about in this place. It ain’t Texas but it will work for now.

I did the same thing buying my new husky. Put the down payment on the card and couldn’t read the first number on the 3 digit on the back because I signed it with a sharpie. Luckily the guy tried my guess twice n refused again till I got it right. One call to the skirt with better eyes and all was good. Enjoy your new ride.

Your gonna need a proper dual sport. Stromxtc and aspr like dirt roads above the posted speed limits. Us south Texans gotta stick together or at least try, in my case, to keep up.

I agree. I am working on that as well. Dualsport/adventure riding will be new to me and one of the reasons I joined this place.

I have a lot going on over the next few months including shifting my base of operations back to Texas and at least two movies out in LA.

Once settled in, I want to dedicate some time to learning and honing the skills to be a safe and better rider off road.

Aspr is a motocross kid and I’m a dirt bike learner. We both got decent spots to ride. Stromxtc is just a freak that rides his weestrom like he’s never felt a crash. Aspr started a local monthly ride that has good response with good riders. Most dirt.

Looking forward to riding and meeting.

Kaw's version w800 cc bike

Not bad at all. While I have a preference for certain brands, I mostly like em all. The new Speed Twin has the 1200 out of the Thruxton R....which I really like.

When it comes to Triumph, I also have a half a closet full of their clothing/gear. It would cost me a motorcycle to replace it all with other brands/non bike brands.

Oh, the horror, Oh, the shame, that I would mismatch! A scallywag of my questionable status and character could never be seen committing such an egregious fashion faux pas.

I approve of all the bike picture porn posted thus far. :dude:

I do not know how well they are doing (I certainly hope it is well) but the Triumph dealer in San Antonio has changed hands at least 4 times (4 physical locations and ownership) It could be more on paper. Long ago I had a bit of an inside into it, but nothing today. I really like my local dealer now, but my experience with them is limited.

I see some people speak negatively about the current dealer (they are Ducati as well and get the same comments) because it is a fairly unimpressive location and building. In all honesty, that seems like the right formula. Two dealers ago was a golden location and palace. I never understood how there was enough business for that. Ultimately and details of personalities aside....it wasn't. From a business standpoint, at least in some markets, such as San Antonio, the dictum "You can be big/impressive or you can be profitable" probably applies.

As a company, Triumph is doing rather well these days. They are certainly making fun, interesting and cool products.

That doesnt look like a gravel bike.
I guess we can put some knobbie tires on it
