"So I’m riding Sunday on my BMW 1250 GS with my friend Jeff Sachs on the first week of the TAT. We are near Asheville, North Carolina on Table Top Rd when I sense something in my peripheral vision. Before I know it, a 50 maple tree falls from a hill 15’ above the road and lands ON my bike just ahead of the handlebars. The bike stops instantly in its tracks. The TFT screen and various brackets, parts and electrical components were spread randomly a few feet around the bike. Sadly, I think Pegasus took too big a hit for me. I am humbly grateful to have had very minor injuries...however, extremely grateful the tree didn’t land 24” further back. Enjoy the photos."
I think/pray about that most days I’m out, lots of great goatpaths (as rod calls them) around here with LOTS of dead and or dying trees hanging over roads.
You were blessed not to get crunched. Yikes.
Since we were riding an R1250GSA-HP with Mosko-Moto bags through the dense pine & redwoods of northern California last week this hit a little close to home!
The odds of that happening.....
Seems like the grand old man is trying to send a message? Slow down, speed up, stop being a Karen, change hobbies, ride a KTM?
This one is not far from it, just passed one ready to go, already broke off just hanging on a tree across road. Was too lazy to turn around for a picture, lol. It's going down soon, always could be a problem.
